CHANGES TO EXEMPT EMPLOYEE STATUS 



On May 18, 2016, the Department of Labor announced their Final Rule updating the overtime regulations, which will impact employees who may currently be classified as Exempt and not entitled to overtime pay.  Employers may want to take this opportunity to audit employee job descriptions to ensure that those employees, whose salary does not meet the new minimum, still qualify for Exempt status based on the DOL's SALARY BASIS TEST.

The 2016 Bethlehem Memorial Day Parade kicks off at 11am on Monday, May 30. The parade starts at the Nathaniel Adams Blanchard Post of The American Legion and ends at the reviewing stand at Veterans Park next to Stewart's Shops. A small ceremony at Veterans Park will immediately follow the parade.

On Tuesday, June 7, the State of New York will launch a new Cyber Security Initiative titled "5 Steps To Better Cybersecurity" for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses, Local Governments, Not-For-Profit Organizations, and IT and E-commerce vendors.  The event will be held from 10am-12pm at the Empire State Plaza, Meeting Room 6 in Albany.  The presentation will take participants through the set of steps that will help them identify what they have at risk and what they need to protect them.
