Last Friday the Bethlehem Chamber hosted the 31st Annual Awards Dinner.  Attendees had the opportunity to network with chamber members, elected officials Assemblywoman Patricia Fahy, NYS Senator Neil Breslin, and Bethlehem Town Supervisor John Clarkson, members of the community, and many other business representatives.  The food by 2Shea Catering was fantastic, and the awards presentation was filled with heart-warming speeches.  Pictured above are this year's honorees; from left to right: Regina McGuire (Youth Award), Joan Gavrilik, Friends of Bethlehem Parks and Recreation (Citizen of the Year), Will vonWedel (Community Spirit), Dale Ezyk, Colonial Acres Golf & Learning Center (Business Person of the Year), and Gerald Wright, Robert Wright Disposal (Lifetime Achievement).  For the full photo gallery, click HERE.

Check out working tubs and showers, as well working kitchen sinks and faucets. There are many types of bathroom displays and accessories - there is nothing like this Showroom in Upstate NY! Complimentary wine, beer and soda will be served, along with catered hors d'oeuvres. Sales staff will be on hand to answer questions.

PARKING: There are 14 parking spaces off the Central Avenue side of the Showroom, and there is also parking along Central Avenue (it is not metered). To access the rear lot, which holds 50 cars, drive down Clinton Avenue and pull in the rear gate. The Showroom is opposite Bleeker Stadium (the Counter/ Showroom entrance is there as well).

Students Lend A Hand

Glenmont Job Corps Center located on River Road in Glenmont, NY is a residential technical training school for youth ages 16-24. Job Corps is funded by the Department of Labor to offer underprivileged youth the opportunity to earn a High School Diploma, learn a trade, go to advanced training or be employed in a well-paying job. 

Glenmont Job Corps Center prides itself on giving back to the community - our students are available to help out with many kinds of community service projects.  Examples of past projects include:
  • Bethlehem Community Christmas Dinner
  • Bethlehem Town spring and fall clean-ups, 
  • Colonial Acres Walking Trail construction
  • Equinox Thanksgiving Dinner
  • Albany Pal installation of Holiday Lights
  • and many other events!

Support your veterans this Memorial Day, and throughout the year, by participating in the American Legion Memorial Day Honor Roll. The American Legion publishes this booklet every year, which allows businesses to advertise to the 3,000+ parade spectators. Proceeds from the Honor Roll are used to support non-funded veteran service programs, such as Patriot Flight, a local non-profit that flys Veterans to Washington D.C. to visit the memorials for their service.  COMMUNITY HAPPENINGS

Visit M&T Helping Hands Saturday, April 16, at the Tools for Caregivers event at St. Sophia's Church in Albany. This is a FREE event for caregivers, but registration is required (via email, or call Angela at 248.3807). Spend the morning visiting with experts and vendors representing various local senior services and care options (8am-12pm).

On Thursday, April 21 the Bethlehem Historical Association presents 
Michael Engle - he will be giving an illustrated talk about diners in Bethlehem and the Capital District. A faculty member at HVCC, he co-authored "Diners of New York" and wrote "Diners of the Capital District." His current project focuses on the history of diners in the Great Lakes states. The lecture takes place at the Cedar Hill Schoolhouse, 1003 River Road, Selkirk, at 7pm. All are welcome at this free event, and refreshments and conversation will follow the talk. Town historian Susan Leath will be available to sell and sign her new book, Historic Tales of Bethlehem, New York.

On Thursdays between 10 AM and 2 PM, the Town of Bethlehem will be accepting donations for Habitat ReStore in the Capital District of slightly used furnishings, working appliances, cabinets, and other building materials at the Town of Bethlehem Transfer Station, 136 Rupert Rd, Selkirk, NY. Google Analytics: Using Website Traffic Data

Another great workshop from the
Community Loan Fund is coming up on Thursday, April 28.  Google Analytics is a free and very powerful web traffic data analysis tool available from Google. It's commonly installed by website designers (and very easily installed if it's not on your website).
