New Opportunity to Market Your Business During Specific Conventions and Sporting Tournaments

The ACCVB has created a new Twitter handle, @AskAlbanyNY.  AskAlbanyNY is an online Albany Concierge for SPECIFIC conventions and sporting tournaments which services to answer any questions that participants/attendees have about Albany such as directions, parking, restaurant info, where to stay, and much more.

Any local business/restaurant can offer specials during conventions and sporting events, including the NYSPHSAA Wrestling Championships February 26-27.   As an example, any patron that comes into your business with a wrestling ticket receives a complimentary appetizer, OR any patron that comes in with a school wrestling shirt receives 10% off their purchase.  Click this link to start following.

Take advantage of this free opportunity to promote your business, get your name out there, and drive business directly to you by tweeting your offer.  Hotel partners can tweet to any of the teams staying with them as well as advertising weekend room specials.  If you have questions, do not hesitate to reach out to Deb Goedeke, Convention Services / Sporting Tournament Manager at 518.434.1217 x100 or via email

Upcoming events taking place in downtown Albany include:

New York State Bar Exam
February 23-24
Approximately 3,000 future lawyers will converge on our city for the test.  Many hotels are sold out in the capital region.  These applicants will be seeking dining options throughout these two days, which is a great opportunity for our downtown businesses and restaurants.

NYSPHSAA Wrestling Championships
February 26-27
54th Annual Championship welcomes wrestlers, families, friends and fans to a weekend of exciting sports.  Cheer on all of the elite wrestlers representing their sections encompassing New York State, plus the New York City Public School Athletic League (PSAL) and Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA).

2016 MAAC Basketball Championships
March 3-7, Times Union Center
The NCAA Division 1 MAAC Men's and Women's basketball teams will participate in the 5 day tournament, with family, friends, fans and alumni cheering them on.
