Join us at Akira for our December networking mixer. It's a great opportunity to catch up with colleagues during the holiday season or to make new connections before the end of the year.

And get in the holiday spirit by giving back to the Bethlehem community! We will be collecting donations at the door for the Community Christmas Day Dinner organized by Bethlehem Senior Services. Served every December 25 at the First United Methodist Church, the dinner is open to people of all denominations and ages. 100-120 people are served each year, with approximately 30 more meals delivered to home-bound individuals. Your monetary contribution will fund food items for the event including turkey and ham with all of the fixin's.

OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR 2016

Members currently purchasing health and/or dental insurance through the Chamber can review 2016 plan options and enroll new plans during Open Enrollment no later than December 15.  
 
Plans are available to Sole Proprietors, Small Groups and Individuals. Employees may acquire insurance through the Chamber regardless of whether the Employer pays for the plans.

The Bethlehem Lions is again selling Christmas Trees and Wreaths for the 29th year. The tree lot is located at 3D Rigging, 542 Route 9W Glenmont-1/2 mile south of Feura Bush Road. Sale times are weekends from 9-5 starting 11/28, and continue until sold out. All trees are 6-8ft Nova Scotia Balsams, and the wreaths are 14in diameter, Double Sided. Bethlehem Opportunities Unlimited (BOU) will host 
 "Talking with Your Teen: An Open Conversation about Substance Use" a special event on Thursday, November 12 from 5:30 - 7:30 pm at the Bethlehem Central High School Cafeteria, 700 Delaware Avenue, Delmar.  This program will inspire an open discussion between parents and teens on the impacts of substance use and abuse.  Pizza and refreshments will be served from 5:30 - 6:00 PM.  There will also be a health fair with exhibitors providing useful information.  So attend, eat pizza, and browse prior to the program which begins at 6:00 PM. Jim Moran presents Blacksmithing: Yesterday and TodayMoran has been blacksmithing for over 40 years. Many weekends he can be found at the forge at the Norman's Kill Farm Park working and shaping iron and steel into useful objects. He is an active member of the Capital District Blacksmiths Association and enjoys sharing the blacksmithing skills he has acquired over the years. All are welcome; free and open to the public. Governor Cuomo Announces Launch of $20 Million Hudson Valley Farmland Protection Program to help farmers in the Hudson Valley region protect valuable, at-risk farmland from future development and maintain the land's use for agricultural purposes.  Grants made available through the program will allow eligible entities to assist landowners protect at-risk farmland through the use of permanent conservation easements. Projects on viable agricultural lands throughout a 14-county area, including Albany County, may be submitted for funding consideration. The Hudson Valley Agricultural Enhancement Program is a competitive grant program administered by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets. The Request for Proposals for the Hudson Valley Agricultural Enhancement Program is now available here.
