Join us for the Grand Opening of the Colonial Acres Walking Trail, a joint project of Colonial Acres Golf & Learning Center, ISC-Audubon, Frank Slingerland and The Colonial Acres Community. The Walking Trail Grand Opening will start at 5:30 pm and will be followed by Star Gazing at 7pm. We encourage all in attendance to stay for the Star Gazing Event. In the case of clouds we will still have the trail opening and reschedule the Star Gazing. The Colonial Acres Clubhouse will remain open throughout the events for the purchase of Soda, Beer, Wine and Snacks.

The official Grand Opening of the Walking Trail is at 5:30pm. The Trail runs from the Hole 1 Tee to the Hole 8 Green and will be open to the community for walking and running. Dogs are welcome under the owners control. Thanks to Frank Slingerland (final bridge work in progress).

The Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce, along with the Colonie and Guilderland Chambers and C I Destinations, presents Spain & the Sunny Costa del Sol. Spain's Costa del Sol stretches along just over 90 miles of the Malaga province and is one of Spain's most popular tourist destinations. The Costa del Sol is known for its beautiful landscapes, delicious food, all while experiencing the warmth of its people. Here you will also discover a rich cultural heritage, fabulous beaches, coastal sites and charming villages. On your tour you will travel to the nearby towns of Seville and Ronda to take in such sights as the Alcazar Palace and Plaza de Toros, the oldest bull ring in Spain. The Delaware Avenue Improvement Group (DAIG)'s Business To Business Program  encourages and assists Delaware Avenue businesses in utilizing local Bethlehem businesses when undertaking improvements. The type of projects that businesses will likely be undertaking include painting, signage, landscaping, installing benches, power washing, and more.

Shift to Merchant Liability Starts October 1, 2015

In case you missed it, the EMV card deadline is fast approaching. After October 1, 2015, if a consumer uses an EMV chip card with a merchant who doesn't have an EMV-compliant terminal, and the transaction is fraudulent, the liability for any charges falls on the merchant.

Applications Available Online

The Town of Bethlehem was successful in its application to the New York State Office of Homes and Community Renewal for the creation of a Microenterprise Grant Program.  The Town will receive $200,000 to provide grants to eligible Microenterprises, emerging, and existing businesses that want to locate in or expand within the Town of Bethlehem.  It is anticipated that a minimum of ten (10) businesses will be assisted with the awarded grant funds.  Grant awards will range from $5,000 to $35,000 and can be used to purchase inventory, machinery, equipment, furniture, fixtures and to meet working capital needs.

Delmar Animal Hospital has announced the following local forums:  Ticks and Tick Borne Disease - A Primer Thursday, 9/24 7:00 p.m.  Learn more about ticks including tick biology and life cycle, as well as the symptomology of various tick borne diseases;  Keeping Ticks Away, Thursday, 10/15 7:00 p.m.  Discover integrated pest management techniques you can implement at home, and learn about managing ticks when you own pets;  Living with Deer in Bethlehem Tuesday, 10/27, 7:00 p.m.   Topics to include gardening with deer, traffic safety, and hunting options.  All forums will be held in the Town Hall Auditorium and are open to the public. Following the formal presentations, there will be tables with additional information on topics related to deer and tick management, so that residents can talk to experts and get their questions answered.

F2t emphasizes eating fresh and nutritious food, while supporting the local economy-connecting us with the community and our earth.  An exclusive, evening Farm-to-Table Harvest Gala will follow the family-friendly day event. Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy will present "Mushrooms of the Northeast"
a two-part course about the mushrooms of the Capital Region. Learn from a classroom presentation about mushrooms and apply your knowledge during a field session while enjoying a sneak preview of the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy's new Bozen Kill Preserve, opening to the public later this fall.  Dave Muska of  Ondatra Adventures will be the instructor. The Town of Bethlehem will host the Fall Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Recycling Collection Day will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2015, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Town Highway Garage, 74 Elm Avenue East, Selkirk. This Saturday, September 26 is National Prescription Drug Take-Back DayElm Ave Town Park will be one of the drop-off locations for this Free event, from 10am to 2pm. Turn in your unused or expired medication for safe disposal. Proper disposal of unused prescription and over-the-counter medications is important to protect both people and the environment.
