 It's officially the Holidays ~ the Annual Bethlehem Holiday Parade on Friday night was a big draw at the Four Corners in Delmar, culminating with the arrival of Santa thanks to the Delmar Fire Department, and the Tree lighting with Town Supervisor John Clarkson, Assemblymember Pat Fahy and Town Board Member Julie Sasso. ISC-Audubon is pleased to announce that the Colonial Acres Neighborhood in Glenmont has been granted certification as an ISC-Audubon Certified Neighborhood in the Bird & Wildlife Sanctuary category, the first in New York State!  The Neighborhood Certification requirements revolve around 10 environmental and wildlife-related components that must be put into place and documented to ISC-Audubon's satisfaction. Glenmont Job Corps Center was recently awarded certification by the National Automotive Technicians' Education Foundation (NATEF) in Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair. NATEF accreditation offers credibility, prestige and recognition of excellence in automotive programs. This certification is the culmination of many intensive hours of review and assessment. The Job Corps auto program now carries the same credibility and relevance as any trade or collegiate program offered by a higher learning facility.  Auto students at Glenmont participate in work based learning opportunities or internships at several automotive repair shops and dealerships throughout the Capital Region as part of their learning experience.    

 

The Wine Reserve in Glenmont will host two December Wine Tastings - the first on Friday, December 12th from 5:30-8:30pm and the second on Saturday, December 20th from 3-6pm. Stop in to taste test a holiday gift.

Bethlehem HS's Theater Without a Net presents " The Tempest" by William Shakespeare. Shows will be  on Friday and Saturday, 12/12 & 12/13 at 7pm and on Sunday, 12/14 at 2 pm at the Bethlehem High School Auditorium. Tickets are $10/adults and $6 seniors/students.

The traditional Chanukah Menorah Lighting Ceremony at Four Corners will take place on
Tuesday December 16 at 4:30 p.m. The celebration is led by Rabbi Simon of the Bethlehem Chabad.

The Bethlehem Community Dinner on Christmas Day will be held at First United Methodist Church. This is a great annual event providing a Community Dinner for all who wish to participate, and is supported by many area churches, organizations and individuals, with transportation and support provided by Bethlehem Senior Services. The turkey and ham dinner is open to all residents and church members who wish to participate. Festivities begin at 1:30 pm on Christmas Day with dinner served at 2:00 pm. There is no fee for the dinner, however, goodwill offerings are accepted. Transportation for residents, aged 60 and over, will be provided by Bethlehem Senior Transportation Service. The  Bethlehem YMCA will hold its First Annual Bethlehem YMCA Winter Wonderland 5k on Saturday, December 13 at Hamagrael Elementary School. For more information on this great event see the flyer . To register for this event go to their webpage

New York State's Bridge to Success Loan Program assists NYS Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (MWBE) to get access to mobilization funds to help them become successful in bidding on the over $1 billion in contract opportunities now available in NYS. Many small firms and MWBEs lack the short term working capital necessary to execute on State contracts. Capitalized with up to $20 million, the Bridge to Success Loan Program provides bridge loans to State contractors who need the working capital necessary to address these challenges. Shoppers across the nation made a powerful statement with 88 million consumers "Shopping Small" on Small Business Saturday, November 29,up 14.9 percent from just a year ago. Consumers reported spending $14.3 billion with independent retailers and restaurants on the day, an increase of 2.1% from a strong $14 billion in 2013. November 29th marks the fifth annual Small Business Saturday, a day dedicated to supporting the local businesses that create jobs, boost the economy and preserve neighborhoods around the country. Small Business Saturday was created by American Express in 2010 in response to small business owners' mostpressing need: more customers.
