Chamber Day at the Track

Join us for a fun day of business networking with the Colonie and Guilderland Chambers at Saratoga Race Track.  We have reserved a newly-renovated, air-conditioned Paddock Tent just for the Chamber.  Tickets are limited so reserve early. The Paddock Tent is located behind the Clubhouse, adjacent to Saratoga's picturesque saddling area. While relaxing in an air conditioned tent, guests will enjoy an unobstructed view of the thoroughbreds and jockeys preparing to race. The Tent features betting windows, access to restrooms, and numerous television monitors. The buffet includes a tuscan table, gourmet wraps, sandwiches, and a dessert station and will be available from 12-3pm.The dress code is business casual. (No jeans, shorts, or other abbreviated wear). Gentleman: Collared shirts are required, but sports jackets are optional. Ladies: Dresses, skirts, or pantsuits.

Spring has sprung!  And the Bethlehem Art Association has finalized a new exhibit featuring new spring-themed works from 12 local artists.  Stop into the Bethlehem Chamber office, Monday through Friday to view the exhibit.

The Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Energy Partner Consultants to offer our members the opportunity to receive competitive pricing on gas and electric service through volume purchasing.  EPC will analyze your commercial usage for free and provide options to decrease these costs from 5% to 20%. They will also conduct a free energy efficiency assessment to determine if your business qualifies for a variety of credits and incentives being offered by any federal, state or local agency, National Grid (or other utility) or NYISO (or any other grid system operator).  EPC's consulting fee is waived for all members of the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce, regardless of consumption profile. MEMBER NEWS & EVENTS

Shampoodle has small doggie day care Monday through Friday from 6:45am until 7 pm. Pups up to 35 lbs are welcome! They must have up to date shot records and be evaluated to see if they are suited for day care. There are no kennels, they play, take naps & lots of walks. Call 368-3260 for more information.

  

Normanside Country Club will hold its next Cooking with Chef Series on Thursday, June 5 from 6:30 - 9:30 pm. Join us for a 4 course Tex-Mex dinner paired with wines or cocktails while each course is demonstrated in front of you. Mark your calendars! Bike to Work Day is scheduled for Friday, May 16 (rain or shine) in anticipation of the 2015 opening of the Helderberg Hudson Bike Path from Delaware Avenue in Delmar to Albany. Join us at the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy (425 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar) at 8:30 a.m. as we celebrate National Bike to Work Day and support our region's exciting Helderberg Hudson Bike Path. The bike ride into Albany begins at 9:30 a.m.

Friends of Bethlehem Parks and Recreation
is a new nonprofit organization formed by a group of interested and enthusiastic Town residents.  Today, we are proud to announce the launching of our website,
Facebook page, and 2014 Parks and Recreation Survey. We invite you to visit the
website, complete the survey, and Follow us on Facebook.  Whether or not you use the Town parks and recreational offerings, we want to know what you think!  And we hope that you will encourage others who live, work or play in Bethlehem to visit our website and complete the survey as well.

The 2014 CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge, a 3.5-mile race that takes place in downtown Albany (Empire State Plaza) on Thursday, May 15, 6:25 -8 pm, is the largest annual road race between Utica and New York City. The event is organized by, and serves as the major fundraiser for, the Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club (HMRRC). Come out and support your team!

The Kiwanis Club of Delmar will hold its annual Spring Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, May 17th from 8 AM to Noon at the Delmar Presbyterian Church at 585 Delaware Avenue, Delmar. The cost is $6.00 for adults, under 12 - $4.00 and Pre-School children Free. All proceeds fund Kiwanis Projects for Youth.

 

Tuesdays Delmar Farmer's Marketto begin on May 6 and run until November 25. The Farmer's Market located at the First United Methodist Church on Kenwood Ave will be offering fresh fruits and vegetables, hot off the grill chicken by Geurtze Bar-B-Q, fresh artisan breads, homemade desserts, herbs and perennials for sale, local honey, massages by Laberge Massage Therapy and lots more. Stop by on Tuesdays throughout the spring and fall.

AROUND THE REGION...
  
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo  launched Round IV of the Regional Economic Development Council (REDC) initiative, officially kicking off the 2014 competition for up to $750 million in state economic development resources. The Consolidated Funding Application (CFA) will open to applicants on May 1, enabling businesses, municipalities, not-for-profits and the public to begin applying for assistance from dozens of state funding programs, through a single application, for job-creating and community development projects.  The 2014 REDC Guidebook and list of available resources will be accessible hereThe CFA will open to applicants on May 1st and the deadline for applications is Monday, June 16th at 4 p.m. For applicants, the CFA is available here.  

The Capital Region Economic Development Council is holding three upcoming CFA workshops: Friday, May 16, 2014,11:30 am - 2:00 pm at Empire State Plaza,Madison Avenue, Albany. To attend RSVP here. A special training workshop will also be offered on Wednesday, May 28, 9am - 12pm at Hudson Valley Community College, Bulmer Telecommunications Center (BTC), Auditorium & Meeting Rooms, 80 Vandenburgh Avenue, Troy, NY, to attend RSVP here and Monday, June 2, 2014, 1-3 pm, at Columbia Greene Community College (exact location to be announced), 4400 New York 23, Hudson, NY.
