Growing Stronger Together

Our cause is strengthening community. We do so by focusing our efforts on developing youth, improving healthy living for all and fostering social responsibility to create positive and lasting personal and social change - the kind of change that can only come about when we all work together to invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors.

When you give to the Page Mill YMCA's Annual Giving Campaign, 100% of your gift will be used to make a meaningful, enduring impact right in your own community. In short, you continue to strengthen our community and move us all forward.

NUTRITION TIP OF THE MONTH
When eating yogurt don't pour out the top liquid part! That clear liquid is called whey, and it is the source of most of the yogurt's calcium. Greek yogurt has had most of the whey removed so it has more protein but less calcium. Try finding a Greek yogurt that has had calcium added back.

Learn more from our in-house nutritionist, Stephanie Happe.  Set up a free, half-hour nutrition consultation today!

Annual Giving Campaign

For the past 33 years, your Y has been working to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income, or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. The result is youth growing into caring and responsible adults, families growing stronger together, and individuals getting the support they need. The Page Mill Y has a unique focus on eliminating child obesity in our community and in helping those of us who are recovering from cancer or dealing with the challenges of Parkinson's disease, diabetes or arthritis to enjoy healthy active lives.

Our 2013 Annual Giving Campaign will start on February 11th. Our branch goal this year is $110,000 and reaching this goal is critical to providing those meaningful services which enhance the lives of so many people in our community.

Please join us this year by making a gift towards helping others in our community become healthier and stronger. Together we can continue to make a meaningful impact in our community.

ANNUAL GIVING CAMPAIGN PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT

Parkinson's Exercise Program (PEP)

MWF 2-3pm

Our new Parkinson's Program is designed to empower people with Parkinson's Disease by optimizing their physical function and help to delay the progression of symptoms.

In November we launched a new Parkinson's Exercise Program. Based on a model from the West Side Family YMCA in Los Angeles, it incorporates techniques that support better movement and strength in both limbs and vocal cords.

Our experienced instructor has taught a similar class for many years at the Parkinson's Institute in Sunnyvale.
This class is free and open to the public for members and non-members.

It is also supported by the generosity of donors to our Annual Giving Campaign.

For more information, contact Stephanie Happe at shappe@ymcasv.org.
