We would like to make you aware of the business related discussions scheduled to take place tomorrow at the Planning Commission Meeting.
In December, the Council began the conversation about regulating seating capacities in restaurants based on a metric other than parking space credits, as they currently are in section 29.10.150 of the Town Code. There was a motion from the Council to ask the Planning Commission to discuss this, and consider other metrics for determining seating capacities, such as maximum fire occupancy, or square footage, and then make a recommendation back to the Council. They also requested that staff prepare a Town Code amendment for the Commission to consider during their discussion. In addition, the Planning Commission will consider a Town Code Amendment to the Formula Retail definition as discussed and recommended by the Town Council at their October 6, 2015 meeting.
All Town Code amendments that are proposed for the Zoning Code (Chapter 29) require consideration by both the Planning Commission and Town Council. So, following the conclusion of these discussions at the Planning Commission, both topics will return to the Town Council before any changes may take effect.
