Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce Selects
  Zack Marks
as New Executive Director

May 2, 2014

An accomplished nonprofit executive with a track record of effective public policy advocacy has been selected as the new Executive Director of the Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce. Zack Marks will start on June 2, replacing Ronee Nassi who is retiring on June 30 after 12 years of service.

Marks is currently the Executive Director of the California Brain Tumor Association, which he founded in 2008. He previously served as the West Coast Director of the Environmental Health Trust, was a legislative fellow in the San Francisco Mayor's Office, and an administrative analyst in the Office of Senator Ted Kennedy.

"Zack's talents and skills are a perfect match for the Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce," said Pat Wolfram, President of the Chamber Board. "He immediately stood out as the candidate of choice during the interview process and we were impressed with the short term and long range strategic plans he presented for the organization. His energy, broad experience and fresh ideas will help the Chamber achieve a new level of success."

Marks briefly lived in Los Gatos several years ago and fell in love with the town, so he was excited about the opportunity to return to the community and become part of its future. He and his Golden Retriever, Teddy, will move to Los Gatos in May.

"Los Gatos is an incredible place with so much to offer," Marks said. "It will be a real joy to help our Chamber members be successful and to showcase the Town's natural beauty, hotels, shops, restaurants, parks, trails, and special events."

Marks holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Philosophy of Law from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Master's Degree in Public Affairs and Practical Politics from the University of San Francisco. He is also a certified web designer with proficiency in social media.

During the past three years he has been an active community volunteer in San Francisco serving as a Commissioner of Animal Welfare, Chairman of the Pedestrian Safety Committee, committee member for the San Francisco County Transportation Authority, and as a presenter for the Department of Elections. He is also an animal assisted therapy volunteer for the San Francisco SPCA.

The Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce is celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2014. Its major projects include operating the Los Gatos Visitor Center on Station Way, the Holiday Carriage Rides, Spring and Fall Wine Walks, the Los Gatos Leadership program, and dozens of other activities that support local businesses and enhance the community's quality of life.
