The 2016 Annual Meeting of Trinity Parish Church on the Green, New Haven, will be held after a 10 AM service on Sunday, January 31, for the purpose of electing members of the Vestry, acting upon proposed Bylaws amendments and other business.

Please find attached the Agenda and Bylaws documents:

New Warden: Charlotte Rea

This year we welcome a new warden to our Trinity leadership team.

Trinity is gifted with so much talent, rich in many directions, and many people who are fit to be strong leaders for our community. In discernment and prayer, I have asked God and many trusted leaders of our parish for guidance. It took some time to discern the guidance of the Holy Spirit for the call to leadership in the upcoming years.

As God has called her to leadership in our church and after a time of prayer and discernment for her side, Charlotte Rea has accepted, the call to become warden. I am very grateful that Charlotte is ready to serve our community as warden.  We now look forward to working as a team with our soon new Senior Warden, Lisa Omark, after Jack will conclude his tenure of dedicated service.

This discernment process was conducted with a profound respect for the gifted talents that we share our community. Please join me now in prayer for Charlotte's upcoming leadership in our church, as well as for Lisa, our upcoming Senior Warden. We praise God from whom all blessings flow!

Luk

Formerly Head of the Williams School in New London CT, an independent school on the campus of Connecticut College, Charlotte has been a life-long Episcopalian.  After teaching English in the Upper School of the Dalton School in Manhattan, Charlotte served as Assistant Head at the Westlake School for Girls in Los Angeles, then Academic Dean at Northfield Mount Hermon School in Massachusetts, and Head of Upper School at The Brearley School in Manhattan.  She now works part-time with her husband, Bob Fricker, helping independent schools find senior administrators.

Currently a Board Member of the New Haven Preservation Trust, Charlotte has also served on the Boards of the Berkeley Architectural Heritage Association in Berkeley, the Lyman Allyn Art Museum in New London, the Women and Girls Fund in New London, and the Chester Land Trust.  She has been thrilled to join the Trinity Church community.  A Vestry member, she serves on the Finance, Communications, Properties, and By-Laws Committees, helps with the Trinity Bazaar, and convenes the Friends of the Green, which works to enhance the positive impression of the New Haven Green.

In her free time, she hikes, takes aerobic classes, walks, reads and gardens-and cherishes time with daughter and her family.

NEW VESTRY CANDIDATES

This year, the nominating committee is pleased to put forward six candidates to stand for election to Trinity's Vestry:  Fiona Leary Boucher, Barbara Casey, Joan Dreyfus, Sheila Owen, David Rivera, and Sarah Woodford.  A total of 39 parishioners were invited to stand for Vestry, and the final list of candidates are attendees at different Sunday morning services and are involved in various ministries.  This year, a total of six candidates will be elected for six positions, because one member will be asked (by lot) to complete the 1-year term of another Vestry member.
Thank you for the strong attendance to the Meet the Candidates Forum this past Sunday.  We had a great conversation.

Fiona Leary Boucher: A cradle Episcopalian, I first came to Trinity in 2003 after returning home from college. From my very first visit, I felt welcomed and accepted in what I saw as a thriving community. I began singing with the Trinity Singers (now Parish Choir) and ushered during the 11 o'clock service. Trinity was also the backdrop for some of my most important life events: I was confirmed and married here, and my two sons were baptized here as well. Most recently, I am chairing the Development Committee. Trinity has meant so much to me over the years, and I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as a member of its Vestry.

Barbara Casey: It is with humility and grace that I wish to serve on the vestry at Trinity.  My husband, Ron and I, have been members of Trinity since 2011.  Our love for Trinity is reflected in the commitment to mission and ministry in this place. I have been a senior consultant with the Episcopal Church in Connecticut for many years. I have served as a vestry member in previous parishes and currently serve as lector and co-chair the Finance Committee as well as actively participate in the knitting ministry and in our holiday bazaar.  I have many years of experience facilitating and coaching individuals and teams of clergy and laity. My husband and I are residents of Guilford. I am retired from a career in the management of nonprofit hospitals and health care services and we have two grown sons and 6 grandchildren and also 3 adored nieces and nephews. Gardening is definitely a passion and so I volunteer at York Correctional Institute in Niantic where I work with others to teach inmates to plant and harvest a vegetable garden.
Joan Dreyfus: I have been a member of Trinity since 1998. Previously I was in a parish in Easton.  I was a cradle Roman Catholic, but changed to my mother's faith as an adult. I am a 7:45 person for many years, although I occasionally go to the 11 am service. I am a lector at 745. I am also a member of the Trinity book group. I am a proud New Haven resident, widowed for many years, have a wonderful daughter, and many great friends at Trinity. I am still working 35 plus hours a week in my profession as Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, APRN. I am passionate about my work, it is my calling and closely connected with my spiritual life. I am very involved professionally, clinically, and personally in mindfulness meditation practice. I hope to be of service to Trinity on the Vestry. My interests are in deepening our spiritual growth and in outreach, especially to the homeless mentally ill.
Sheila Owen: I am honored to be nominated for the Vestry of Trinity Church.  I have been attending Trinity for over fifteen years and have volunteered for the Holiday Bazaar, Knitting Ministry, and Ushering for the 9 am service.  I have many skills and perspectives which would benefit the Vestry. I earned a Bachelors' Degree in Economics from Connecticut College.  I also have two Masters Degrees, the most recent one in Social Work.  I have worked in the field of mental health and substance abuse for over twenty years, mostly in the New Haven area. I hold two licenses from the Connecticut Department of Public Health. Currently I work at a local facility as a Clinical Supervisor and also have a private practice in Bethany. If I am elected for the Vestry, I hope to continue being a positive influence within the community and provide needed leadership for the church. I love Trinity and hope to help the church continue its growth and stability.
David Rivera: My grandfather brought me to Trinity in 2009 and I started attending regularly
in 2012. I was raised a Lutheran, attending Immanuel in Meriden. I was baptized and had myfirst communion there. I am now blessed  to be an Episcopalian and call Trinity my home away from home. I was confirmed in the Episcopal church in May 2015.  I am an acolyte, usher, and conference call operator at the 11:00 service as well as serving on numerous committees. I am also involved with outreach by helping out at Loaves & Fishes, Chapel on the Green, and cooking and serving a meal at Columbus House once a month. I hope to bring new ideas to the church I love by serving on the vestry.

Sarah Woodford: I am the library director at Saint Thomas More: The Catholic Chapel & Center at Yale University.  I have been a Trinity parishioner for the past four years. And goodness, those past four years have been full! I am the Chair of the Trinity Archives Team and a member of both the Welcome Committee and the Music Committee. I also am a member of the Leadership Roundtable for Table on the Green, Trinity's Eucharist and dinner on Monday evenings. Last year, I helped this program get a $5,000 grant from the Episcopal Evangelical Society. I love serving Trinity as a leader and working with other parishioners on creative Trinity ministries-this will continue when I become a member of your Vestry.
