Parish Meeting & Potluck Luncheon
|
Preparing for the Next Stage of Life This weekend we begin the discussion of our parish's book of the year, Being Mortal. We will view the Frontline program by the same name, as well as be treated to a presentation on preparing for a good death and dying in the 21st century by Dr. Lydia Dugdale. This will be followed up with information and resources that we each ought to be responsibly considering and completing with our family and parish. I hope that you, your adult children and your caregivers will join us to learn how we can better assist each other in this preparation. In keeping with this theme, I leave you with one of my favorite poems, Crossing the Bar by Alfred Lord Tennyson. Sunset and evening star And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea, But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home. Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark; For though from out our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face When I have crossed the bar. Alfred Lord Tennyson, 1889 Rowena+

Parish Meeting & Potluck Luncheon
On Sunday, October 18 following the combined 10:00 a.m. service, Trinity will host a Parish Meeting & Potluck luncheon. This year, there will be an exciting new program of "workshops" to participate in that will offer opportunities for learning, deepening spirituality, and fellowship. Combined with delicious food to enjoy, this is not to be missed. Childcare will be provided.
To give more room to the Holy Spirit and to stimulate more dialogue and interaction, there will be four workshops to choose from: Outreach Guest Speaker, Sunday School, Spirituality, Guest Speaker, and a presentation from Stewardship Committee. You will be able to select three workshops of your preference; every workshop will run for 20 minutes. The workshops will take place in the different venues of our church building.
Help with the Potluck!
Please plan to attend. All are asked to bring their favorite dish according to your last name: A-K - side dish or salad I-Z - main dish. All dishes should feed at least 8 people, and remember to label your dishes and serving utensils. Important: Please bring food ready to serve or requiring only a quick reheat as oven space is limited.

The Rev. Estelle Webb Retiring
Our clergy Minister for Elder Care, The Rev. Estelle Webb, is leaving. We are very sad to see her leave active ministry, but Estelle has decided it is time for full retirement.
We very much appreciate her compassionate ministry to the elderly of Trinity. Several years ago Estelle retired from as full-time clergy at Trinity but two years ago she graciously returned to assist us in our elder care ministry.
We will miss her, but happily Estelle will continue to attend Trinity and stay connected with us. We wish her well and we look forward to her continuing presence in the Trinity family.
Thank you very much Estelle for your unmatched way in which you communicate God's grace towards people in need. God's richest blessings!

Jesus has Arrived! A statue of Jesus has been going around area churches and is here to stay at Trinity. Timothy Schmaltz created this statue with the following in mind: "This sculpture is a visual representation of charity. We should see Christ in the poor and the hungry. We should see our acts of kindness to them as kindness to Him. Inspired by the Gospel of Matthew 25:40."
