October 2013
Greetings!

When Episcopal priest and author Barbara Cawthorne Crafton pairs Advent and Christmas meditations with hymns of the seasons, she ushers us into an experience that can last all day.

"I can think of worse things to be haunted by than hymns," she writes in her preface to the newly re-released Let Every Heart Prepare: Meditations for Advent and Christmas from Morehouse Publishing.

A special email reflection series of Let Every Heart Prepare is the newest CREDO resource providing lifelong wellness opportunities beyond the conference setting. We invite you to read more and sign up below.

CREDO Audio and Video Meditations

A new Advent and Christmas series and Facilitator's Guide
Advent 2013

Advent provides "times of introspection, times of resetting, times of rebooting your spiritual life to prepare you for what is about to happen," explains Episcopal priest and author Barbara Cawthorne Crafton. "Taking a slow down, taking a step back, taking a quiet time away from the frenzy ... and the unrealistically high expectations, centers you and plugs you back in to who you really are."

Begin your mornings during the seasons of Advent and Christmas with CREDO's daily audio email series featuring Crafton reading from Let Every Heart Prepare: Meditations for Advent and Christmas. The newly re-released pocket-size book is available from Morehouse Publishing, an imprint of Church Publishing Incorporated.

Each of Crafton's short daily readings is anchored by a few lines of a hymn from The Hymnal 1982. The audio versions feature an organ rendition of the hymn as a musical coda concluding the meditation and allowing time for reflection.

The six-week series, which runs from the First Sunday in Advent to the Feast of the Epiphany, also features Crafton reading her Sunday reflections on video. The short readings and the hymn on each of the six Sundays can be paired with a CREDO Facilitator's Guide for an easy-to-lead Sunday study series for use at individual churches.

Discussion questions, group activities, suggestions for deeper reflection, prayers, guided meditations, and more, tied to the themes explored in Let Every Heart Prepare, comprise a user-friendly resource for exploring and responding to the messages of the season. CREDO's  Facilitator's Guide is available to  anyone who subscribes. For planning purposes, the facilitator's material will be accessible in advance.

Connect with daily inspiration as both a solo practice and in the company of others. A perfect Advent and Christmas series for personal reflection, with special Sunday offerings to share with your parishioners and staff.
