If you are unable to travel to Salisbury that day but would like to join us via the web, let me know.
* Part of the Hunger Games mania? David Lose, professor at Luther Seminary has developed a discussion guide for the movie/books. Enjoy!
* On our website we have the opportunity to include pictures (slides really that change) on the homepage. I'd love to have pictures of your trips, events, etc. Email me with a 1-2 paragraph description and see your group on the www.lutheranyouth.org homepage.
* Family Table Devotions for Year B are online through July. We are beginning the work on Year C this week. Hard to believe - I know.

2012 ELCA Youth Gathering |
Keep up to date by checking the Facebook page. Last count was over 32,725 registered.
Banners in the Superdome Historically, groups have hung banners in the dome that reflect their congregation's name and location, and sometimes their interpretation of the Gathering's theme. This practice is possible again. Because of renovations in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, banners must be created vertically rather than horizontally. The approved size is 2-feet-wide and 3-feet-long or smaller. Anything larger than that may be removed by Superdome staff. Banners can only be hung using plastic zip ties in designated locations. Gathering volunteers and ushers will identify display locations on the opening night, Wednesday, July 18.
As you prepare for the Gathering, here are some helpful tidbits to keep in mind for your time in New Orleans from the good folks on the Gathering's Safety and Security Team. * Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate. A majority of the health incidents at the dome were related to dehydration. * Good shoes. Many participants who ended up at the first aid stations had injuries related to not wearing good shoes. This led to treatments for everything from blisters caused by wearing flip-flops to seriously injured ankles. * New Orleans has police and hospitals equipped to deal with major emergencies, but a number of the incidents that affected churches were youth who wandered away from their group and leaders, taking advantage of the trust their leaders had in them. Remember who you are, whose you are and why we are at this event. * Be prepared. The Interaction Center will have opportunities to donate blood and build a house. If you want to participate in those things, be ready. Be prepared to take it easy if you want to give blood. * INFOline. The INFOline's main objective is to get participants back into the Gathering as quickly as possible. Some examples: Lost in New Orleans? Call INFOline and get directions to where you are supposed to be. Hungry? Call INFOline for restaurants near your location. Confused about the schedule? Call INFOline for times and locations where every church group is scheduled to be at every moment of the Gathering.
