"We're going to be hiring a lot of summer help soon. How old does someone have to be to use a forklift?"
Quick and easy, eighteen years of age. You may want to illustrate that fact on your lifts for the summer by downloading an illustration you can tape to the over head guard. You can find that through this link. It's a PDF file.

Rental Department
Avoiding Woulda Shoulda Coulda
| I found that putting something to paper involving the forklift rentals is difficult. There isn't really a lot of new information to share. If you follow material handling news this probably isn't lost on you. Most articles will focus on how the individual renting can or should pick the right piece of equipment, or when it is the best time to rent. Good information I suppose but it does seems to miss the more important issue of where to rent from.
Remember, we invite you to call us at 763-425-9066 or 800-523-0611. We will put you in touch with your area's territory manager or to our rental manager, answer your questions.

We work to have dates set on the calendar for the two upcoming months. Our hat's off to Toyota Material Handling for their ongoing support for our veterans.

5 Parts Questions We'll Trouble You With
|
Just a doorway separates me from our parts counter and phone sales staff. All day, every day, I hear the same questions asked again and again, sometimes worrying that those questions may seem small or without value to the person calling in. With a little thought I don't quite dismiss the idea, but find myself wishing that more callers knew more about why the questions are so important.

"We're lost on whether we need to add working lights to our lifts. In some areas we have a lot of shadows, but the majority of our workplace is well lit"
When in doubt, add them. I would have the greatest concern over what an OSHA workplace inspector might think looking at your dark corners. OSHA regulations state "Where general lighting is less than 2 lumens per square foot, auxiliary directional lighting shall be provided on the truck." Now trying to get a definitive answer on what 2 lumens is without a light meter is a little hard. Better to be safe than ... well it's just better to be safe.

5 Roadblocks to Customer Service
|
In the day to day activities of businesses there are a lot of challenges that have to be overcome. Each industry has their unique problems, but some problems seem to be common for everyone. An example of that will be the internal challenges that are experienced. All businesses sell something. In our industry its equipment, equipment parts, rentals and repairs. All of these fall under the broader umbrella of customer service. The value or quality of customer service can be reduced when internally people and departments aren't connecting well, or in some cases when departmental goals or priorities aren't in sync.

When The WWE Says No Rules ...
|
Recently Daniel Bryan used a Toyota forklift to dump an opponent back into the ring. Not only did it look like he could have used a bit more forward tilt, it's unclear if Daniel left any safety rule unbroken. Click on the image to read more and see the video incorporating Toyota forklifts in wrastlin'.
