Lift Trucks And The Great Recession
|
There are any number of reasons the world teetered on the brink of financial ruin, most of them are important, many are debatable and all of them are too complex for us to try to address here. What we can address is some of the numbers seen in the forklift industry as a result of that recession, and more importantly perhaps, the affect it will have for many more years to come.
|
"Here it damages product, although it may put our staff at risk too. But would you touch on rear end swing?"
Te see it all the time, or at least the results. Look at your forklift counter weights. How's the condition of the paint. Operators generally have a great feel for it, but pedestrians may not. If that pedestrian hasn't been seen by the operator we'll have another painful statistic. Rear end swing is of course the quick pivoting a forklift has steering with its rear wheels. You can see an image of it here. OSHA's eTool addresses it as well. Read that here.

Renting: The Articulated Lift
| Time and again you hear the easiest way to try new equipment and even workflow ideas is through rental equipment. We would like you to consider a type of equipment that is gaining popularity in recent years. Articulated forklifts, namely the Flexi lift. We have pointed out the savings on space previously and would like to share another article with you here.
There is something about an articulated fork lift truck that arouses the 'Marmite' factor in those in the supply chain industry - you either love them or hate them, but according to one stakeholder, admittedly with a vested interest, those against the concept simply haven't given it a fair trial. Designed specifically to optimize space in warehouses holding freight stacked on racking, thus enabling the use of narrower aisles, they are at first sight unarguably a touch unorthodox.
Remember, we invite you to call us at 763-425-9066 or 800-523-0611. We will put you in touch with your area's territory manager or our rental manager, answer your questions.

5 Watercooler Forklift Parts Facts
|
What's your favorite parts topic? What, you can't think of one? It's no surprise really, not a lot of thought is spent hashing over forklift parts. Generally the focus is on the bigger sexier departments like service or sales. The parts department and its staff quietly churn out solid customer service making it look much easier than it is. With attention to detail and a tenacious approach to gathering information, day in and day out the right parts are inventoried, sold and shipped.

"We missed your last train the trainer class but would still like to look into having our people test and certify our operators."
If you have staff willing to be trainers it is the best solution for your company. Your staff working with your staff on your equipment in your environment. You really couldn't ask for more. If you'd like a good look at what the material covers you can see a demo of the videos here. | Forklift Safety Video Demo - Now in DVD |
We would certainly be happy to have our trainers give some pointers to anyone your going to appoint as your trainer. Call us for more information at 763-315-9288.

Where The Cost Resides
|
There isn't any doubt that as a capital expense, forklifts will make more than a ripple on the books when the investment is made. But the initial purchase is just the beginning of costs surrounding a forklift entering your operation. Other more known costs would be maintenance. Everyone seems to focus on that don't they? Then there is fuel. The biggest cost of operating a forklift isn't focused on much at all, and that cost is the operator. We created this infographic to share just one example of numbers surrounding a forklift, and where the operator's cost falls into things.
