Winter Driving: Don't Recreate It in Your Workplace
|
This week brought the first measurable snow to the Twin Cities. Many drivers were reminded how slippery roads can be. Beyond the precipitation, there was another underlying cause why our roads were so slippery. The lack of rainfall has allowed the dripping of oil and grease from the motor vehicles to accumulate on the roadways. When combined with the snow and ice, this slurry is exceptionally dangerous.
Now stop and think about your operation. Are there cutting oils, fats, or other lubricants that collect on your docks or yards? The snow and ice bring enough trouble. A synergistic effect occurs between poor house keeping, the occasional spills, and mother natures worst.
At your next safety meeting, please be sure to remind both the experienced and novice operators about the dangers of our Minnesota and Wisconsin winter. Also be sure to run that scrubber regularly. Shovel, scrap, sand and salt. While it is true forklifts are not traveling as quickly as cars, they weigh much more and present unique braking characteristics.

Rental Department
Plenty of Ways to Rent Efficiency
| We have added a new piece of equipment to the rental fleet. It is a Sellick rough terrain lift with four wheel drive and cab . It has a lift capacity of 10,000 lbs . With winter coming soon it will be a popular lift to rent.
We also have the full line of rental equipment sit down electric , LP and diesel equipment along with scissors lifts, reach trucks and order pickers.
For all of you that need to simply move a pallet from point A to point B there is the pallet jack. Instead of using a hand pallet jack why not use an electric walk behind pallet jack to improve efficiencies and ergonomics? Their actions are smooth, and you won't find the operator having to jerk or pull to get it moving . They come with a built in charger and you can plug into any 110 volt outlet.

Service Department
More than A Billboard
|
I often find telling vendors and potential hires the largest difference between us and a Toyota automobile dealership is our need to transport our service to the customer. Most frequently that is done through our service vans with the aid of the largest force of visible ambassadors for the dealership, our field technicians.

We work here, certainly OSHA will take that into consideration regarding conditions. Won't they?

It has been mentioned before that none of us really every planned to be here, certainly there were no college or Vo-Tech courses taken in preparation for our rolls here in this equipment dealership. Rather we somehow were introduced to it, found our roll in it and stayed. Read More
