Congratulations to Jeff Witman, Ed.D., CTRS, who received the ATRA Scholarly Achievement Award. This award is dedicated to one member of ATRA who has contributed significantly to the field of knowledge of Recreational Therapy.

Conference News - Citizens and Friends Day on the Mountain!
PRPS and DCNR will host a Citizens and Friends Day on Sunday, March 13, 2016. This event will kick off our 69th annual conference at Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Somerset County.

Citizens and Friends Day is designed to meet the needs of local recreation and park board members and directors; local officials; and friends of and advocates for recreation and parks.
Mark Fenton, will be the keynote speaker. He is a national public health, planning, and transportation consultant, an adjunct associate professor at Tufts University's Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, and former host of the "America's Walking" series on PBS television. He is the author of numerous books, including the bestselling "Complete Guide to Walking for Health, Weight Loss, and Fitness."

2016 Get Outdoors PA Mini-Grants
Be eligible: become a Get Outdoors PA Community Partner
 
The second Get Outdoors PA Mini-Grant Program will open in early 2016. Grants of $1,500-$3,000 will fund equipment and training related to outdoor programming.  Some match is required.  Applicants must be Get Outdoors PA Community Partners approved in 2015 or earlier and be a local government entity or 501c3 non-profit. The program is supported by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. If you're not currently a Community Partner, apply online today!

The 2016 Board of Directors slate is forming. Get involved! Don't hesitate - run for office this year. 
  
Please consider stating your personal interest or nominate another individual you feel would be a good candidate and is able to accept the commitment.
       
The following positions on the PRPS Board of Directors are open for nominations: 

Director At Large - 2 positions open, each is a four-year term: 4/2016 -  4/2020
Citizen Director - 1 position open for a two-year term: 4/2016 - 4/2018
Student Director - 1 position open for a one-year term: 4/2016 - 4/2017

The nominations deadline is November 12th
