Free Webinar: Best Practices for Outdoor Recreation Programs

2:00 - 3:00 pm

 

This webinar will explore best practices for various activities which can help partners improve the quality of their outdoor recreational events. A best practice is known as a technique, method, process, activity or incentive which has been clearly defined, refined, and evaluated through repeated delivery and proven to be most effective in providing a desired outcome by a substantial body of research. They may change over time.  

 

 

Local Government Award

 

The Governmental Affairs Committee is looking for nominations for the Local Government Award.  This award recognizes an elected or appointed individual or group of individuals for outstanding and significant contribution(s) or leadership in support of some facet of the profession. (Not required to be a member of PRPS). 

 

Please send any nominations with a brief explanation of the contribution or leadership to Karl Lukens, Interim Chair, Governmental Affairs Committee at: klukens@lowerprovidence.org.

  • What's up with this Pinterest? You mean it can help you with your programming? It sounds complicated, but it's not really....come to Pinterest 101 with Laura Hannaford at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 22 to learn more!

  • CPR, First Aid and AED are all key components to various successful programs and managerial administrations. From great Aquatics programs to babysitter's training, you need these certifications to make it work. Gwen McNamera will guide you to success at 3:30 pm on Sunday, March 22!

  • Bring him back! Christopher Ridenhour was a huge highlight of several PRPS/PTRS conferences in the past and he is returning to shake it up some more. Be prepared to get up and move around the room, meet people that you have never met, in addition to being reminded of how we can all successfully communicate! Come to the Opening Keynote Session at 5:00 pm on Sunday, March 22!

  • Join Kristen Dowell for a series of exercise and routines to get your day started with endless energy! Best part - you can take this workout with you everywhere you go! The Early Morning Workout! Let the fun begin at 7:00 am on Monday, March 23.

PRPS Recognition and Awards Program - Deadline is next month!

 

The PA Recreation & Park Society provides the opportunity for an  individual, group, or agency to be recognized for professional and personal achievements. These prestigious awards will be presented at the annual PRPS Conference on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at the Lancaster Marriott and Convention Center.

Are you ready for the PA Mini-Grant Program?

  

In early 2015, the Get Outdoors PA Mini-Grant program will be launched for Get Outdoors PA Community Partners. Grants of $1,500-$3,000 will fund equipment and training related to outdoor programming. Some match is required.  Applicants must be Get Outdoors PA Community Partners approved in 2014 or earlier and be a local government entity or 501c3 non-profit. The grant round will be open from February 1, 2015 to March, 31, 2015. The program is supported by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Start thinking about how your programs could benefit and if you're not currently a Community Partner, apply online today!
