Voting has begun for the 2015 River of the Year

Each year BRC partners with the Pennsylvania Organization of Watersheds and Rivers (POWR) to crown Pennsylvania's River of the Year. The following five waterways are competing for the 2015 title: Conewango Creek, Lackawanna River, Loyalhanna Creek, Neshaminy Creek and the Ohio River. The public can vote for their favorite waterway through 5 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2014. Visit www.pariveroftheyear.org to vote and learn about the nominated waterways and the River of the Year program. One vote per person please. The winning river receives a $10,000 grant to use towards improvement, education and outreach projects throughout the watershed.

New Program Opportunity

Learn to play disc golf clinics at parks and schools throughout the spring and summer that can lead to programs at local disc golf courses, or if no course is readily available, on inexpensive temporary courses available through Educational Disc Golf Experience (EDGE).

Our network of disc golf course promoters in PA could work with parks to staff the learn-to-play clinics and plan ongoing events that would lead to a bus trip on Saturday Aug. 8 to the Disc Golf Village at Slippery Rock University for coaching by professional disc golfers and for spectating during the Finals of the World Championship.

Please contact Gary Dropcho, 2015 PDGA Pro Disc Golf, World Championships Co-Director at dropcho@consolidated.net or call 724-766-6121 for more information and assistance on how to bring Disc Golf to your community.
