67th Annual State Conference

Seven Springs Mountain Resort

Doc couldn't have saved the day entirely by himself and we couldn't put on a great conference without you!

We are looking for volunteers to serve as room hosts for the educational sessions at Seven Springs. It is a great way for students and first time (and tenth time) attendees to get involved, make new acquaintances and be a part of the overall success of the educational workshops. Great Scott! It is easy, it is fun and it is greatly appreciated! Please send an email to TSteines@westgoshen.org to let him know which sessions you'd like to host.

Getting Smart About Goals

Peanuts Philosophers Charlie Brown and Linus are talking:

Do you ever think about the future, Linus?

- Oh, yes, all the time.

What do you think you'd like to be when you grow up?

- Outrageously happy.

(That's a much better answer than my response when I was very young: I wanted to be a fire truck!)

From another of my favorite comic-strip philosophers: Calvin is ranting at a stony-faced Hobbes: "Resolutions? ME?? Just what are you implying? That I need to CHANGE?? Well, Buddy, as far as I'M concerned, I'm perfect the way I AM!"

Amphitheater/Permanent Bandshell Stuctures

After 20 years our portable stage (Showmobile) has seen better days. We are looking into the possibility of installing a permanent structure rather than purchasing of another portable stage. If you have first-hand experience installing and/or managing a permanent band shell/amphitheater structure, I'd greatly appreciate your input on these topics. While I have quite a few questions hopefully they can be answered briefly without taking too much of your time.

  • Is your structure custom designed/built or is it a pre-fab structure?

  • If pre-fab, who is the manufacturer/distributor?

  • Do you recommend the manufacturer/distributor?

  • Was it purchased installed or installed in-house?

  • If pre-fab, was any customization incorporated (e.g., storage areas, lighting, electrical connections)?

  • If custom, who developed/engineered the design?

  • Size of the structure/pad?

  • Age/When was it installed (year)

  • Approximate investment?

  • What is the annual frequency/purpose of use internally?

  • Do you rent the facility to outside groups / what types of functions?

    • If yes, would you be willing to share your fee structure?

  • How would you rate the level of maintenance required in relation to other park amenities?

  • In your experience, do you find that having a permanent structure an asset in your community?

  • If available, would you share a photo of your structure that I might share with our P&R board so they can better visualize the overall concept beyond general catalog photos?

Thank you very much in advance for any information you may be able to provide! Please respond directly to Karen Sweeney at kasweeney@doylestownpa.org.
