Want More Resources for Your Out-of-School Time Programs?

Tell us what you do!

We want to support your out-of-school time activities with more resources and content. To do so, we'd like to know a little bit more about the programs and services you offer to youth during their out-of-school times: in the morning, afterschool, on the weekends, and during holiday and summer breaks. The information you provide will assist NRPA in providing resources and content to support your efforts. This survey should take less than 5 minutes to complete.

NRPA Parks & Recreation Magazine:

Looking for successful programs and solutions for homeless populations in parks

In the January issue of Parks & Recreation Magazine, we are planning to run a feature on park agencies that have developed successful solutions for compassionately handling homeless people in their parks. I'm looking for a few additional positive examples that we can work into this feature. In many cases, homeless people are seen as a nuisance, but some park agencies have developed systems in which their homeless "residents" are given jobs to help keep the park clean, for example. Others may work closely with their local shelter or provide meals to the homeless in conjunction with summer feeding programs for out-of-school kids.

If your park agency has come up with any good solutions for working with your local homeless populations, please let me know.
