The first oil boom in the United States occurred just 154 years ago in northwestern PA, prompting railroad expansion to the west and ultimately nationwide. Come visit the region where oil first became a commodity, a region unique to the U.S., by attending the 2013 PA Greenways and Trails Summit from Sunday, September 15th to Tuesday, September 17th, in Franklin, PA!
This statewide summit only occurs every two years and is one of the few chances to gather with trail professionals and advocates from throughout PA and surrounding states. The education you'll receive is unbeatable, with sessions including:
- Trails in Difficult Places: Route and build urban trails along streams, through industrial areas, and proximate to resistant neighbors;
- Revitalizing Riverfront Communities Through Outdoor Recreation: Increase stewardship of natural resources by helping distressed communities recognize them as economic assets; and
- Unique Trails and Amenity Ideas for These Challenging Times: Enhance your trail with non-traditional materials, funding sources, and partnerships.
Don't forget our internationally known Keynote Speakers: Robert Searns, trail, greenway, bicycle, and open space project specialist; and John Crompton, Distinguished Professor for the Department of Recreation, Park, and Tourism Sciences at Texas A&M University. Click here for a listing of all programs.
Cash in on this opportunity, register now for the Summit at www.prps.org. You'll leave rich with PA history, flush with contemporary knowledge, and your pockets will be heavy with contacts!
