New Mentors: Freshman Kick Off will take place at 954 West Washington Blvd., Suite 430

 

We know you have been waiting with anticipation to find out where you will be meeting your mentees. Well the wait is over; the Freshman Kickoff will be taking place at the Companies That Care offices located at 954 West Washington, suite 430. The office is located right in the West Loop, and two blocks south of the Morgan/Lake "El" stop off of the Green and Pink line. There is also street parking, and a Park One lot 2 blocks east on Washington Blvd, that is $5 for the night. 

 

When:  January 29th, from 5:00 pm- 7:30 pm, Dinner will be provided

Where: 954 West Washington Blvd., Suite 430

TOUCHPOINT: Cultural Event 

We are very excited about this year's Cultural Event! We will be attending Broadway in Chicago's production of Cathy Rigby is Peter Pan. This is a particularly special show because it has starred the same actress, Cathy Rigby, for 30 years! The show we will be attending is on January 30th, 2013 at 7:30pm at the Cadillac Palace Theatre. We will have dinner before the show at 5:30pm at Bella Baccinos. We hope to see you all there!

 

When: Wednesday January 30th, 2013, 5:30- 10:00pm 

Time of Transportation: Busses will arrive at 5:00 pm and return  back to school at 10:00pm  

Location:  

     Dinner: Bella Bacciono's, 75 E Wacker Dr.  

     Theatre: Cadillac Palace Theatre, 151 West Randolph Street

Who's Invited: All AIM High Students, Mentors and School Liaisons
Transportation
: provided for CTD, GWCP, NLCP and Urban Prep-Bronzeville students.   

 

Cost: Free to all AIM High Students + one Mentor. 
Additional Mentors welcome for an additional cost of $75 for both dinner and the play. Mentors who wish to come to the play only will have a cost of $45. Mentors who wish to go to dinner only will have a cost of $30.       

 

Online registration for this event will close this afternoon at 5pm! 


We are STILL looking for a few UCW and Urban Prep-Englewood parents to join us for the evening to serve as chaperones on the buses and at the event. There is no charge for the parents.If Chaperones are not found by 4pm today, UCW and Urban Prep - Englewood will not be attending. Please contact Max Frazier at the Companies That Care office for more details - 312-661-1010. Mentors, we will send you an email by the end of the daytoday if the bus is cancelled.

February 8th: March to College and Career Fair Deadline!

 

As we discussed during the Mentor training, we have two upcoming deadlines for mentors on February 8th.

 

First, the planning for March to College should be done, and can be documented by clicking here.  Also, if you have missed the previous trainings, click here to get to the AIM High Resource section of the website.

  

Second, the deadline for mentors to  register as Student Partners or Career Reps for the Career Fair is February 8th. Please see below for more details! 

 

AIM High Career Fair

Come help your AIM High students learn about the many possible career options available to them. From nursing to business, manufacturing to marketing, they'll be astounded to learn about all the different directions their careers can take.    

 

  

Date:  Wednesday, February 20

Time: 5:00pm - 7:30 pm

Location: Chicago Cultural Center 78 East Washington Street, Preston Bradley Hall

Who's Invited: All AIM High Students and their Mentors

Transportation: provided for CTD, GWCP, NLCP and Urban Prep - Bronzeville students.  Students coming from UCW and Urban Prep - Englewood campuses pay $6 or $10 each depending on prior attendance. The bus will be leaving form Urban Prep - Englewood at 4:30 pm

Cost: No charge
