Joint Campaign Kick-off
Oak Knoll students, parents and teachers all showed their school spirit at the Joint Campaign kick-off last Friday morning!

Hot off the press and in case you missed Back to School Night, here is the Are You IN Video that was created to help inform families why it is important to support both your PTO and MPAEF.

The PTO and the MPAEF continue their joint efforts to make Oak Knoll the best it can be for our kids. When you support the PTO at $250 per child and the MPAEF at $1500 per child, you make a real difference in all students' education in the following ways:

PTO donations are due by September 30, and please make your gift or pledge to the MPAEF by November 4.

Together, we INSPIRE in our children a love of learning
Together, we INVOLVE ourselves in their learning journey
Together, we INVEST in their future

If you have any questions please reach out to Oak Knoll's PTO Membership Team and/or Oak Knoll's MPAEF Ambassador Team. Thank you for your support!

Announcing Recipients of the Jeanie Ritchie Grant
We are excited to announce the 2016-2017 recipients of the Jeanie Ritchie Grant! You will see each of these grants come to life during this exciting school year. Thank you to everyone who donates to the MPAEF and to all the teachers who go above and beyond to make our school district the very best!

Congratulation to this year's Oak Knoll recipient:
Jonathan Coldolff: Hands-on Coding for Kindergarteners

The mission of this grant is to enable teachers to pursue innovative teaching programs in their classroom, grade or school and provide educational experiences that students would otherwise not be able to have. The grants are funded by the MPAEF and are an important part of the Foundation's motto: Investing in Education. Together. Read about the Jeanie Ritchie Grants here.

The first talk, "Surviving and Thriving in the Middle School Years," is this Wednesday, September 14 at 6:30pm at Hillview PAC.

All events are open to the public, include free childcare and refreshments and are hosted at Hillview's Performing Arts Center (PAC). Click here for more videos and info, or email us with any questions or comments.

Volunteers Still Needed for Hot Lunch
Calling all parents with an urgent plea!

Our Hot Lunch program on site at Oak Knoll is 100% managed and served by volunteers to hundreds of students every school day. Thank you to all those of you who have already signed up to help. We still need more of you on board!

If your child eats hot lunch,
if you want to check out the new LunchMaster food,
if you like to help the school,
if you like to connect with students during the day,
if you like to meet other parents,
if you like to get a credit towards a free lunch for every shift you work,
then please please consider volunteering - weekly, monthly, occasionally, whatever you can do!

(Editor's note: It's actually fun!)

Hot Lunch shifts run daily from 11:10am-12:15pm. To sign up, please email oakknolllunch@gmail.com.
Ollie Salutes
Ollie wishes to thank Janell Sanford, Amy Thornborrow and Annley Dempsey for getting our Room Parent Program up and running for the new school year, for a great training session and for leading the efforts to get all of the classroom volunteer materials ready to go for Back to School Night!

Ollie also salutes Donna Eaton and Julie Cline for hosting a fabulous Back to School Luncheon for all teachers and staff on Friday. They appreciated getting to enjoy a meal together as they prepare for Oak Knoll's Best Year Yet!

Noteworthy Art
Students will be drawing their individual artwork for Noteworthy Art in class some time in the next two weeks. Help your child come up with creative ideas for their artwork. A proof and order form will come home in October - the cards are nice gift opportunities and a special keepsake. Your child's drawing will then be reproduced on high quality notecards and packaged with envelopes in sets of 12 to be delivered before the holidays.

If you have questions please contact Tiffany Wolf, Erin Dolinko, or Sora Choe

Otterwear

To celebrate each child's individuality, we have designed the Otterwear store such that you and your child can add any Otterwear design to any shirt style or color! By popular demand, we have also added stainless steel water bottles, notebooks, bag tags (great for making sure that instruments make it home safely!), Post-it notes, stickers, and more. Add your child's name at no additional charge to personalize. You should receive a code card in your child's backpack this week if you haven't already or you can email mpoakknollotterwear@gmail.com for your free shipping code. More information on the Otterwear page.
