Additional Hot Lunch Coordinator Needed
|
The Hot Lunch coordinator team is in critical need of a third lead volunteer to join the other two volunteers already in place. Most of the set up work has already been completed, putting the new vendor in place and getting some initial volunteers recruited, so this would be a vital operational role during the school year. Please contact Janelle McCombs if you are interested in helping to lead this important service!
|
Library Volunteers Needed
|
Calling all veteran library volunteers to help Ms. Bennion get the library up and running for the school year. Please email Noelle Carpenter if you have previously worked in the library and are available to spend an hour or two between September 6 and 16.
If you are new to Oak Knoll &/or would like to help in our wonderful library this year, please look for the sign-up sheets at Back-to-School Night! We'll get you trained and in the library in no time, helping check books in and out, shelving books, helping students find books, pulling books on topics for teachers.

Ollie says a big thank you for all the tremendous work done by Tamara Russel, Cathy Peterson and Janelle McCombs over the past few weeks to get ready for Back-to-School! From letters and newsletters to checklists and website updates, it has all been super helpful in getting everyone up to speed and ready for the start of the new school year!
A huge thank you to the Kinder Welcome Team of Katherine Robinson and Tara Carranza for their hard work putting together the Kinder Welcome last Tuesday to welcome all the incoming Kindergarteners and get them ready for their first day as Otters! And, another thank you for the Kinder Welcome goes out to Christie Connaghan who recruited, organized, and oversaw the 5th grade ambassadors volunteering at the event.
Ollie also salutes Kelly Schmitz who organized the New Family Ice Cream Social last Tuesday to welcome our new families to Oak Knoll. It was another helpful event for both new kids and parents.
And, finally, a big thank you to Victor Barraza who, not only has been helping get the school ready to open, but has been setting up for and cleaning up after all of our Back-to-School events!

MPAEF & Oak Knoll PTO: Joint Campaign Kicks-off Friday
|
This Friday, September 9, we kick-off the Joint Campaign with the PTO and the MPAEF collaborating to continue to make Oak Knoll extraordinary. Have your kids show their school spirit by wearing orange or their Oak Knoll Otterwear on Friday to mark the start of the Joint Campaign.
When you support the PTO, you make curriculum enrichment, field trips, community building events, and well-supplied classrooms possible.
When you support the MPAEF, you help our district fund additional best-in-class teachers, aides, and their professional development; credentialed specialists in science, art, music, performing arts, various electives, and our libraries; design-thinking curriculum and technology to foster creativity, flexibility, and collaboration; innovative teaching through Jeanie Ritchie Grants; and dedicated counselors to support students' emotional well-being and social development, including digital responsibility.
When you support the PTO at $250 per child and the MPAEF at $1500 per child, you make a real difference in all students' education in the following ways
Together, we INSPIRE in our children a love of learning
Together, we INVOLVE ourselves in their learning journey
Together, we INVEST in their future
Learn more and to donate to the MPAEF.
See you all wearing Orange and Otterwear on Friday to kick-off the campaign! Thank you for supporting our school!
