Parenting in the Digital Age Evening - Postponed until Fall
|
In direct response to parent feedback in the annual Site Council Survey, Oak Knoll invited all parents to join Mrs. Gracia and staff to Parenting in the Digital Age: We are in this together!, a parent education evening. To maximize parent participation, with this hectic time of year and end of school flurry of activities, this event will be postponed from tomorrow Monday, May 16 to a date in the Fall.
Look out for more details on this informative and useful evening. It seems almost impossible to stay up with what our children face and are interested in on the tech front. How do we stay current and at the same time support our children as they navigate through their childhood with the added challenge and gift of technology? As we kick off the 2016-2017 school year, we will TOGETHER discuss, share, learn and develop community agreements to keep our kids safe online and engaged in life outside of technology.

2016-2017 Room Parent Sign-ups - Open Now
|
The room parent program will have a new look next school year! To streamline the role of room parents and increase the volunteering opportunities for all classroom parents, there will now be two room parents per classroom, with the responsibilities being shared.
So don't miss out! Sign up now for one of the most rewarding volunteer roles at Oak Knoll. It's a great way to get to know other parents and your child's teacher, and you'll get to know firsthand what's going on in your child's classroom. Room parents typically help to organize class parties, field trips, and organize parent volunteers when needed. Also, being a room parent doesn't require much on-campus time - so, even if you have little ones still at home or you work full-time, it's a perfect way to get involved!
It is our hope to accommodate everyone, so we appreciate your understanding and flexibility if that is not possible. Please remember that all current room parents must sign up again for next year, including Multi-age class room parents.

A huge thank you to the 13 people that came to donate blood in the first Oak Knoll on Campus Blood Drive last Tuesday. After screening, 9 people were able to donate, potentially saving the lives of 27 people! Thank you to Julie Ohtaki who coordinated these efforts, and the Blood Centers of the Pacific.
Relay for Life:
Also thank you to the members of Otters Fight Cancer Team who participated in the 2nd Annual Relay For Life event at Hillview on Friday which saw over 20 teams from MPCSD schools walk from 9:00pm-12 midnight.
