Growth Mindset Course
Oak Knoll School

November 10, 2015

Dear Oak Knoll Parents,

We are thrilled to announce a new Growth Mindset initiative at Oak Knoll this year!

As many of you know, Oak Knoll has invested a lot of time and energy in teaching our students about the difference between a fixed and growth mindset, as well as how to apply a growth mindset to their academics and interests. Building on this continual work and goals to develop growth mindsets in all of our students, we are offering parents an exciting new way to get involved. Starting now, we would love you to participate in a free online mini-course that guides parents through how to help their children develop a growth mindset. Developed by PERTS, a Stanford University research organization focused on academic motivation, the course takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and consists of short videos and follow-up questions. After completing this mini-course, your family will receive a super cool Oak Knoll Mindset magnet for your car! Collecting your magnet is easy. Complete the course and stop by the Oak Knoll office to pick it up!

Our dream is for EVERY family to participate. Our goal is for 100 families to complete the course and pick up a magnet this school year!

Here are three simple steps:
  1. Access the Growth Mindset Course for parents at www.mindsetkit.org
  2. Complete the two sections of the course, which include watching 3 short videos
  3. Collect your Mindset magnet from the Oak Knoll office.
Together we can create a growth mindset community! Imagine the messages our children would consistently receive and the examples they would have if EVERYONE in Menlo Park understood the importance of growth mindset education and supported our students this way! Let's get started today.

Thank you,

Kristen Gracia
