Room Parent Sign-Ups Open For Next Year
|
Can you believe that it's already time to sign up to be a room parent for next year?! Don't miss out! Sign up now for one of the most rewarding volunteer roles at Oak Knoll. It's a great way to know firsthand what's going on in your child's class, and to get to know other parents and your child's teacher. Room parents play a critical role at Oak Knoll, coordinating parent volunteers for parties, field trips, and in-class volunteering for the teachers. Being a room parent is fun and rewarding, typically having 4 room parents per classroom (or 3 in each multi-age homeroom), and doesn't require much on-campus time - so, even if you have little ones at home or you work full-time, this is a great way to get involved! Please remember that all current room parents must also sign up again for next year, including the looping 4th/5th grade classes.

Hillview Site Council Seeking Parent Nominees
|
The Hillview Site Council, a group consisting of Hillview's Principal, teachers and staff, student representatives, and elected parents, is the body responsible for developing and monitoring the School Site Plan. This plan specifies the goals and metrics that drive the school's major decisions on academics, the school environment, social-emotional well-being, technology, and any other significant areas related to the running of the school. The Site Council is also responsible for creating, implementing and evaluating the annual school survey.
The Hillview Site Council has three open parent positions (out of five regular parent positions) for the two year term from 2015-2016 thru 2017-2018 and one English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC) parent position open for this same term. The council meets approximately once a month after school. All meetings are open to the public.
Interested candidates should submit their name, a brief description of their background, and reasons for wanting to serve on the council to Andrea Luskin by Sunday, May 31. Site Council nominees will be voted on at the council's last meeting of this year on Monday, June 8. The meeting will take place from 3:30-4:30pm in the Hillview front office conference room.
Candidates must be present at the meeting. All parents of Hillview students, or of incoming Hillview students for the 2015/16 school year. who are in attendance at the meeting are eligible to vote.
