Mandatory Re-Enrollment Required By June 30
All students in the Menlo Park City School District (MPCSD) must Re-Enroll for 2013-2014 by June 30, 2013. Our schools are severely impacted by increased enrollment, and so we are requiring parents to confirm their spot for the coming school year, as well as verify data on file, and receipt of required annual legal notices and agreements.
The District will contact all families during the week of June 10 with instructions for mandatory online Re-Enrollment for every student who will be attending grades Kindergarten through 8 this fall. If you are not planning to return to the District in the fall, please contact your school office immediately! Even families that recently registered children for Kindergarten will have to complete the online Re-Enrollment. The District will again be using Infosnap to electronically Re-Enroll students.
The District will send Re-Enrollment information by email to all families with an email address in the MPCSD database. If there is no email address on record for your family, Re-Enrollment instructions will be sent by postal mail. If Internet access is an issue, a computer will be available at the Registrar's office. Please note that the databases used for PTO and District newsletters are not the same as the MPCSD Registration database. So getting this newsletter does not mean your email is on the Registrar's mailing list. If you have changed your email address in the past year, or if you would like to make sure the correct email address is in the MPCSD Registration database, please email registrar@mpcsd.org and include your name, your child(ren)'s name, school and grade.
Thank you for your cooperation with mandatory Re-Enrollment.
Questions? Email registrar@mpcsd.org.

No School Supplies Needed for Incoming Kinders - Fall 2013
Any children enrolled in the "regular Kindergarten" classes in the Fall 2013 will not be required to provide school supplies at the start of the school year as the supplies will be provided by their classroom teachers. But the Multi-age Kinders do have a separate list of school supplies for the Multi K-2 class that will be posted on our school website sometime in August or may have been pre-ordered from SchoolKidz.

Wow! Thanks to Your Support We Will Grant $3.6 Million to the District on Tuesday
We are so excited to announce that at the District's School Board meeting this week, the MPAEF will grant the District a GIANT check -- in size and in dollar amount! On Tuesday at 6:00 pm at the District office, students from Laurel, Encinal, Hillview, and Oak Knoll will present the oversize check for $3.6 million to the Board. Thanks to the financial support from 85% of our District families, we have been able to top last year's record grant by $250,000!
The MPAEF grant will make up more than 10% of the District's 2013-2014 operating budget and makes it possible to maintain high-quality education in our public schools with the best classroom teachers and specialists, as well as supporting library, art, music, and teaching innovation grants.
A huge thank you to all of our families, volunteers, teachers, community members, and PTO partners for making it possible!
Join in the community celebration by bringing your children -- dressed in their school spirit wear -- to help with the grant presentation. We will be gathering on Tuesday, June 11 at 5:30 pm in front of the District office to take some photos outdoors and present the check.
Hope to see you there! Questions? Contact Chrisie Wendin.

Ollie can't believe we only have four more days of school and he has to thank a bunch of folks who have worked hard all year for the PTO and have not gotten a shout-out yet this year:
Our Yearbook co-chairs, Rhonda Bucklin, Sherrie Feinstein, and Tamara Russel were busy this year taking pictures of students and school events to include in our yearbook which will be delivered on Wednesday, June 12.
Our teachers & staff enjoyed a yummy luncheon of sandwiches, salads and desserts at the End-of-Year Teachers Luncheon co-chaired by Jennie Lang, Kasey McJunkin, and Jill Wurster.
Ollie had so much fun building a super straw structure and learning about the heart at two of the events in the much-anticipated Science Olympiad last Tuesday organized by Aparna Bhardwaj, Carolyn Bowsher, Mark Baker, Cara Magliaro, and Mandy Safka. The event went so smoothly and had 100+ volunteers who helped with this event! Thanks to everyone who helped make this event such a huge success! Congratulations to Ms. Tom's class who took 1st place overall!
Special thanks to those people who volunteer tirelessly all year for their committees and help our teachers and our school as needed by managing many things behind-the-scenes:
- our 100+ Room Parents & Grade-level Coordinators
- our Library Coordinator, Mary Speiser
- our Library Resources Team, Alison Fleming & Jody Buckley
- our PE Coordinator, Stacie Zell
- our Afterschool Sports Coordinators, Laura Huber, Monica Young, & Erica Galles. Make sure you register your incoming 4th & 5th grade girl for volleyball!
- our Afterschool Classes Coordinators, Kimberly Hartz-Foster & Aarti Chandna
- our Coffee Cart co-chairs, Dimitra Anderson & Meg Lacy
- and our Emergency Preparedness Team of Neela Gentile & Jenn Yonemitsu
"Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart." ~Elizabeth Andrew
Ollie will be enjoying a nice vacation visiting family in Monterey Bay this summer and will miss seeing everyone but looks forward to seeing the kids who will be back next year on August 22!

"are you in RUN for education" - Thank You!
Congratulations to all of the "are you in RUN" runners, walkers and volunteers! Your support along with our fabulous business and family sponsors raised over $86,000 for our school district! We are all so fortunate to have raised this much needed funding for our schools. Your dedication and commitment is what brought our entire school district and community together. We had over 1400 registered runners, more than 1100 runners on race day, and 110 volunteers helping us with this event. It is commitment like this that makes us all so proud to be a part of this community. THANK YOU!
Have you seen your race results? Check them out at areyouin.mpcsd.org!
If your child did not receive a blue ribbon at the finish line, you may pick one up in the office.
Thank you again for your incredible support! See you next year!

Hot Lunch Volunteers Needed
Welcome to Hillview! We are always in need of parent volunteers to serve hot lunch. We will be serving over 300 students per day. That's one third of our student body, so parent volunteers are definitely needed!
It takes 35 parents per week to serve lunch. Hope we can count on you! It is a great time to connect with other parents, your kids and their friends, and to be on the Hillview Campus.
We have ONE lunch period so lunch service is over in less than 12 minutes...so it is fun and fast. Of course, we arrive 20 minutes ahead to set up and it take 10 minutes to clean up and stack up the bins...
If you are interested in volunteering next year, please email Mary Murphy.
