YPO Events in February

The United Regional's Young Professional Organization is hosting a networking event on Feb. 19 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Make connections, build relationships and showcase your business with your peers at Twenty8 Food & Spirits in Renaissance Boston Hotel & Spa at Patriot Place, Foxboro. Pre-register for this event now to receive the reduced cover of $5. Registration at the door is $10. Light appetizers will be provided. Half of the event admission proceeds for will be donated to The Julia Cekala Charitable Foundation. For more information, contact the YPO.

The first quarterly workshop of 2014 of
The United Regional Young Professionals Organization (YPO) with Ed McDonough of Executive Coaching has been rescheduled to Feb. 27 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Fisher College, 451 Elm St., North Attleboro, Room 3. Ed will share tips on how to engage the person or audience, cover the dos and don'ts of networking, and he'll also show you how to create a 30 second "elevator" speech. Pre-register now at the YPO website and save 50%. Registration at the door is $10.

Radio Spots for Chamber Members 

From now through Feb. 28 SoMa (Southeastern Massachusetts) Radio A.M. 1320, in cooperation with The United Regional Chamber of Commerce, is offering a special radio advertising rate to Chamber members. Chamber businesses can run fifty (50) 30-second radio ads over the course of 4 weeks on SoMa 1320 for $200. To take advantage of this offer, call your SoMa ad rep if you have one. Career Fair March 12   

The Bristol Career Center is planning a Career Fair at the Attleboro Career Center, 95 Pine St., on March 12 beginning at 9 a.m. The organization is asking businesses that are hiring employees to attend the Career Fair. There is no cost to employers or potential employees. For more information about the Career Fair, or to participate as an employer, please contact Karen Willis by email or call 508-730-5021.

Scholarship Apps & Teacher Nominations

The Chamber is accepting nominations for the Teacher of the Year through March 21 and applications for the Chamber's Jacqueline C. Stack scholarship program through April 15. The recipient of the Chamber's Teacher of the Year award and the Chamber's scholarship recipients will be recognized at the Chamber's Spotlight on Education breakfast in May. During the event, the Chamber will also recognize the top 10 students from the high school graduating classes in our service area.

Tomorrow, a Parkinson's Disease Support Group will meet from 10 a.m. to noon at Community VNA, 10 Emory St. in Attleboro. A Community VNA Liaison Nurse will share practical tips on home care for people with a chronic illness. The event is free and open to the public.

Bristol County Savings Bank will hold a Home Buying & Construction Seminar tomorrow, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m. at the law offices of Wynn & Wynn, P.C. in Raynham. This seminar was originally scheduled on Feb.5 but was canceled due to a snow storm.

Bristol Community College is hosting a FAFSA Workshop on Sat., Feb. 22 at BCC Attleboro Center, 11 Field Road, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is open to anyone planning to attend college for the 2014-2015 academic year. Financial aid counselors will be available to assist students and families with the FAFSA.
