Business After Hours Tonight   

Business After Hours red white & blueTake the first step to improving your business in 2013. Join us for a Business After Hours sponsored by the Extreme Networking Group I on Jan. 15 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The cost is $5 for members and $10 for non-members. The event will be held at Dean College, Campus Center Dining Hall, 99 Main St., Franklin. Parking is available in a lot next to the Campus Center and is accessible via Main Street and Route 140. YPO Events in January and February 

YPO Logo YPO is hosting an evening of networking at Bella Sarno on Jan. 23 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided. The cover charge is $5 for members and $10 for non-members.

On Feb. 15 at 5 p.m., the YPO has organized a night with the Provdidence Bruins at the Dunk. Casual networking with light appetizers will run until 7 p.m. Then watch the P-Bruins take on Bridgeport at 7:05 p.m. $20 includes networking and admission to the game. Pre-payment is required by Feb. 1. Visit the YPO website to purchase tickets.  

ATHENA Nomination Forms Available

Do you know a man or woman that demonstrates professional excellence, improves the quality of life for others, and assists women in reaching their full leadership potential? If so, nominate that person for the Chamber's 2013 ATHENA Award. The winner of this award will be recognized at the Chamber's ATHENA Award Luncheon and get an expense-paid trip to the international ATHENA conference. Complete the nomination application and return to the Chamber by Feb. 8. 

STEP Grant Applications Being Accepted  

Applications are now being accepted for The Massachusetts State Trade and Export Promotion (STEP) Grant Program. STEP grants are available to eligible Massachusetts small businesses for the purpose of increasing export sales of their goods and services.

 

A free webinar discussing the parameters of the Massachusetts STEP Grant Program will be offered on three different dates and times:

  • Jan. 25: Noon - 2 p.m.
  • Feb. 6: 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.
  • Feb. 26: Noon - 2 p.m.

Volunteer at Credit for Life Fair March 14 

School to Career Partnership 

The Attleboro Area School to Career Partnership is sponsoring its 4th Annual Credit for Life Fair on March 14 at Wheaton College. This event will benefit 300+ students from Attleboro, Norton, North Attleboro and Foxboro. In order for the event to be successful SCP needs the support of more than 75 volunteers. If you are interested in participating please contact Christine or visit the SCP website.

North Attleborough Master Plan  

The Town of North Attleborough Planning Board is holding a  public forum on Wednesday, Feb. 13 regarding the update to the Town's Master Plan. See the flyer for complete details.

The South Eastern Economic Development (SEED) Corporation has recently closed on three small business loans totaling $1 million. Lacerta Group, Inc. received a $732,000 loan for the purchase of equipment which will enable the small business to expand and create 12 new jobs. Produce Barn, Inc. received a $260,000 loan for the purchase of a11,372 square foot building located at 72 Mansfield Ave. in Norton where they operate their general store. The expansion will create three new jobs. Shaggy Chic received a $10,000 loan to assist in the start-up of Kimberly Ames' dog grooming business located at 13 Morey St. in Attleboro. The project will create four new jobs.

On Jan. 23 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Norwood Hospital Cancer Center at Foxboro will host an American Cancer Society sponsored Look Good...Feel Better session. Volunteer beauty professionals will teach female cancer patients beauty techniques to help restore their self-image during chemotherapy and radiation treatments. To register call 1-800-488-5959.

Franklin High School is hosting a public forum for Franklin business leaders on Jan. 23 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the high school technology center. Input from the forum will help the school develop its Core Values and Beliefs About Learning that will drive decisions about the Culture, Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment of the school. No RSVP is necessary.
