What Will Your Tax Rate be This Year?
The Greater Holyoke Chamber of Commerce and the Holyoke Taxpayers Association have been working together for many years on education and advocacy around the city's tax rates for both residential and commercial properties. Simply put..... taxes raised need to cover the cost of the city budget and that is not going to happen this year. So what do we do???
COME TO THE PUBLIC HEARINGS TO VOICE YOUR CONCERNS AND ASK TO KEEP THE RATE THE SAME, $39.97!
There are a number of meetings taking place that relate to establishing the tax rate. Please note the dates and times of these meetings if you would like to attend or watch and learn.
Thursday, December 12 at 6:30pm: Finance Committee to discuss Finance Appropriations. The Assessor's office cannot have the public hearing until the City Council votes on appropriations at this meeting.
Monday, December 16 at 7pm: City Council Special Meeting. Purpose is to take up the results of the Finance Committee recommendations from December 12.
Please come to this meeting: Tuesday, December 17
5:30pm: Assessor's Public Hearing, City Council Chambers
7:00pm: Full City Council Meeting - a vote will be taken at this time to pass the tax rate for residential and businesses

HOLYOKE MEDICAL CENTER UNVEILS
NEW PATIENT PORTAL
Holyoke Medical Center has unveiled its new patient portal that is currently available to all patients! This secure interactive web portal will allow patients to access their own health information from the privacy of their own home.
The HMC Patient Portal allows patients instant access to their hospital health information, including laboratory results and radiology reports, medications, allergies, demographic information, visit history, discharge/aftercare information and more. This will enable patients to become "partners" with their primary care physician. In addition to managing their own care, parents of minors and health care proxies with authorized consent will appreciate the ability to access information for those for whom they provide care.
Additional benefits of the portal include requesting and tracking appointments, updating demographic information and email notifications alerting users to any new activity such as laboratory test results, appointments or physician reports.
Anyone interested in enrolling in the HMC Patient Portal should visit the medical center's website at www.holyokehealth.com for details. Holyoke Medical Center encourages all of its patients to enroll as it presents a valuable opportunity to become proactive in one's own healthcare. Please note is not intended for self-diagnosis or self- medical management and patients should always contact their primary care physician with questions.
For additional information about the HMC Patient Portal, please visit the website or contact the HMC Health Information Management Office at (413) 534-2528.

Nutcracker & Sweets
Presented by
Massachusetts Academy of Ballet
at Wistariahurst Museum
The best thing about the holidays is Massachusetts Academy of Ballet's Nutcracker & Sweets at Wistariahurst Museum on December 13, 14 and 15! Created for children of all ages, Nutcracker & Sweets is a unique and intimate experience presented through narration and dance, in the historic setting of Wistariahurst.
Student dancers will perform the magical story with lively choreography and Tchaikovsky's wonderful score as it may have been in Holyoke in the 1890's when the Skinner Family lived at Wistariahurst. Sparkling dancers and sugarplum fairies will alight, mice will scamper, snowflakes will gracefully scatter, colorful nutcracker soldiers will march, bonbons will delight, and there's so much more to the story!
Massachusetts Academy of Ballet Educational Training Association is a school for students interested in pursuing classical ballet. Classes are based on the Russian syllabus, a training method that has created some of the best ballet dancers in the world. Rose and Charles Flachs, the directors of the Academy, have danced professionally and are currently Professors of Dance at Mount Holyoke College and guest teachers with the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet.
Advance reservations necessary as seating is limited. Tickets are available online at www.wistariahurst.org or by calling the museum at 413-322-5660.
Show times are Fri. at 4:00 and 6:30 p.m., Sat. at 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2 and 4:30 p.m.
