Social Email Marketing Made Easy"

This information-packed seminar offers a basic review of the essential strategies and best practices a business or organization should understand to successfully get started with social media marketing. The seminar will cover:

  • What social media marketing really is and why it's important;
  • Various social media networks and tools: how they interact, ways to leverage their strengths, and how to evaluate them for best use for your business or organization;
  • How other businesses are using these low-cost tools to gain visibility, develop relationships, and drive sales and engagement; and
  • How to incorporate social media marketing into your business life without losing productivity.

Participants will have plenty of time to ask questions, share experiences, and network with peers. And they'll leave with real-world insights and knowledge that they can put to work immediately, to help their business or organization succeed.

Holyoke gets $247,000 grant to remove asbestos, other hazards from former Hart Wool Combing factory, 216 Appleton St.

HOLYOKE -- The city has received a $247,000 federal grant to clear asbestos and other hazardous materials from the former Hart Wool Combing factory at 216 Appleton St., officials said Monday.

The property is key to market and redevelop because it is in the Arts and Innovation District downtown that features the Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center, said a press release from Marcos A. Marrero, director of the city Office of Planning and Economic Development. The factory is across the canal from the computing center.

The city owns the property, which was taken because of unpaid taxes. The grant came from the Environmental Protection Agency through the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission.

With the building structurally weak, renovation and demolition both are being considered, said Marrero: "Regardless, cleaning up the hazardous materials now will allow either scenario to happen sooner and at a much lower cost."
