As the early part of the 21st century elapsed, Forbes was one of many companies wondering what the future of media held in the face of the digital revolution. It was a risky reinvention of business journalism in the form of the Forbes Contributor Network, launched in 2010, that helped the media giant to stay up-to-date, relevant, profitable and competitive with the rest of the ever-moving Internet news world. In an ABM webinar on Jan. 27 entitled "Driving Scale and Revenue with User Generated Content," Forbes COO Mike Federle detailed how the contributor network, run with precision while simultaneously offering complete latitude to freelance writers, is the optimal system for digital media. Read more.

SIIA Offers New IP Services To Protect Content Publishers

The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), ABM's parent company, is extending its successful anti-piracy program to help publishers fight for their intellectual property rights and to combat fraud. Now, SIIA will investigate and resolve content issues including counterfeiting, fraud, unauthorized access, fraudulent use of domain names and more. SIIA's newest initiative will help publishers with registering their valuable IP with the U.S. Copyright Office and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as well as with registering their brands with the new domain name Trademark Clearinghouse.  The new IPP Division will place a renewed emphasis on content piracy and on specialized services for publishers. To read the entire blog post by SIIA's Keith Kupferschmid, click here.
