Tuesday, Penton's public infrastructure group introduced Govalytics, its SaaS tool dedicated to offering data and analytics for local governments nationwide. The tool is intended for use by vendors selling services and products to city and county legislatures.
BC Partners has purchased financial information company Mergermarket from Pearson for a reported �382 million (approximately $625 million). Though they had owned the company since 2006, Pearson's chief executive John Fallon said of the sale, "The company has flourished under Pearson's ownership but it is not part of Pearson's strategy in global education." BC Partners was one of 50 companies vying for ownership of Mergermarket upon the outset of the auction process.
The Hearst Corporation announced Monday that it is purchasing an 85% stake in healthcare/homecare software firm Homecare Homebase, LLC. The company will join First Databank, Zynx Health and MCG (formerly Milliman Care Guidelines, LLC) as part of Hearst Business Media's healthcare group. The Dallas-based Homecare Homebase was founded in 2001 and has been named Best in KLAS in the KLAS Awards' homecare category for the past three years.
Salesforce.com announced the acquisition of CloudConnect, a startup dedicated to connecting cloud services and data for client organizations, two weeks ago at their annual Dreamforce event. The brand, co-founded by former Salesforce VP of marketing and sales Adam Gross, will function as part of Heroku, a cloud PaaS company that was purchased by Salesforce in 2010.
Two weeks ago, at the 2013 Greenbuild Conference's International Summit, Hanley Wood, LLC, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the Green Building Council Italia (GBC Italia), and the Verona Trade Fair Company (Veronafiere) announced a partnership dedicated to establishing a Greenbuild tradeshow for Europe and the Mediterranean region. Hanley Wood purchased the Greenbuild International Conference & Expo from the USGBC this past May, splitting management of the event with the former owner. GBC Italia and Veronafiere will help organize and launch the show, slated for October 2014.
Farm Journal Media will acquire a majority interest in Machinery Pete, Greg Peterson's machinery price/auction data brand. Jointly announced last week, the purchase will be finalized by the year's end and follows a partnership between the two companies than began last summer. Peterson will continue to function as the key manager of Machinery Pete.
Frontline Medical Communications has relaunched its Emergency Medicine journal and website in order to facilitate ease for the reader. The journal boasts improved page layouts and graphics (including a new logo), while the smartphone/tablet optimized website offers newsletter articles and a variety of multimedia.
