2012 Taster Days
We are very much looking forward to welcoming all those interested in garden design at our Painshill Park and Bristol Taster Days, in May and July.
With the aim of helping anyone who is considering a career in garden design, 3 recent Diploma graduates were game
enough to let us film them reflecting on their own individual careers and how they went about selecting a garden design course. Phil Stovell, Janice Cripps and Lisa Edge-Davies talk about what drew them to garden design initially, what they
got from the Taster Days and how the Diploma gave each of them something uniquely rewarding.

NEW Case Study - Christine Fowler
Having worked in the city in the IT and management consultancy industries for nearly 30 years, I knew I needed a complete career change if the rest of my working life was to be happy and fulfilled... but what to do?
An attempt to redesign my own garden resulted in me calling in an expert, and over subsequent months I watched my garden transform. It was then that it struck me what my next career should be - I wanted to be garden designer!
For the last 4 years my business has been thriving. I'm based in Wimbledon, so the majority of the gardens I design are local and relatively small. My current projects fall into one of 3 categories; Family Gardens, Wildlife Gardens or Terraced Gardens. I am slowly getting involved in challenging, larger projects and plan to target Surrey in future marketing efforts, in the hope that I continue to learn, inspire and delight across a diverse range of projects.

NEW Case Study - Phil Stovell
I was taking a few months break from a 20-year career in graphic design and branding, and building a patio in our garden when it struck me that garden design might be the new career I'd been looking for.
I wanted to set up my own business so I had to make an informed and considered decision choosing the right course that would give me the qualification and vocational skills necessary. Garden Design School came up on my searches time after time with notable high praise, together with the credentials that Robin and Moira provide it made my decision very easy.
Studying for the Diploma was rewarding, interesting and fun from start to finish. This course was for me, perfect for obtaining everything I needed to start up my own garden design business. I'm in my second year of trading and enjoying every minute. My recent projects include a large family garden, a steep terraced garden and commissioned work with the RHS providing plans and sketches linked to some of the Chelsea show gardens.
