The Davie County Board of Commissioners held a public hearing on June 14. After hearing from 21 speakers, the commissioners voted on the county budget. Commissioners Richard Poindexter, Ken White, and Mark Jones voted to adopt the County Manager's recommended budget, which included fully funding the Davie County Schools' local current expense budget request for 2012-13. I hope you will join me in thanking these three men for making the right decision and investing in the future of Davie County.
While we still must keep our eye on decisions being made related to public education in Raleigh, we can close this chapter on the local budget for this year and refocus our efforts on preparing for another fantastic school year in 2012-13. Thank you to the Davie County Board of Education, along with all of our employees, parents, students, and citizens who were engaged in the local budget process; your efforts will have a positive impact on future generations.
Have a safe and restful summer! There are great days ahead!
