Sturm, Ruger has introduced the bolt action Ruger American Rifle in short- and long-action calibers. The 6-1/4 pound Rifle uses an adjustable trigger variable from three to five pounds. Its power bedding system utilizes stainless-steel bedding blocks insert-molded into the stock to positively locate the receiver and free-float the barrel. The barrel's rifling is cold hammer forged providing sub-MOA accuracy and long-term endurance. The three-lug, 70 degree bolt provides ample scope clearance and utilizes a full diameter bolt body and dual cocking cams with a four round, rotary magazine. |

Holder to testify on Fast and Furious
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has been scheduled to testify on February 2 about the Department of Justice's knowledge of, and response to, gun-walking that occurred in Operation Fast and Furious. The Attorney General will be asked to address management deficiencies within the Department that occurred both during and after the conclusion of Operation Fast and Furious. This will include the Department's steadfast refusal to disclose information following the February 4, 2011 letter to Senator Grassley, which the Department has withdrawn because it contained false information denying allegations made by whistleblowers about Operation Fast and Furious. The committee's investigation has found documentation that numerous members of the Justice Department knew the letter to Congress contained false information both before it was sent and later withdrawn.
"The Department of Justice's conduct in the investigation of Operation Fast and Furious has been nothing short of shameful," said House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa.

Light Ball to Replace Flash Bangs
Flash bang grenades, often called flash crash grenades, are excellent for some operations-but remain overkill for many. There has been over use of them due to the fact there is nothing else that does the approximate job. Unfortunately flash bang grenades have set fires, seriously harmed and even killed people with direct contact blast effects. Austin, Texas-based River Rock Design will be introducing a new high-energy DELTA (Dynamic Entry Lighted Tactical Access) Light Ball at next week's SHOT Show in Las Vegas. The polycarbonate super-bright strobe effect and steady-light illuminator initially dazzles and confuses the bad guys and then lights up the target area like daylight. Once deployed, the DELTA Light Ball emits a high-energy 400 lumen strobe effect for three flashes and then stays on to constantly illuminate the target area with four powerful LEDs. The DELTA Light Ball is designed for safe distraction, confusion and final illumination of threats not needing the effects of flash bang grenades; especially effective if several light balls are utilized. And of course DELTA Light Balls can be combined with flash bangs in various situations. The final price has yet to be set but the company is targeting approximately $45. |
Charles Daly Defense lines return to U.S.
After a two-year absence, the Charles Daly brand and its tactical subsidiary, CD Defense, have re-entered the American marketplace, with distribution by Trans World Arms of Harrisburg, Penn. TWA President Michael Kassnar said the CD Defense product line will include six modern sporting rifle and carbine models, a trio of new shotguns and several handguns, including three all-steel models and six pistols with polymer frames in two versions, a full-size and a compact in 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP. Of particular interest is a new shotgun entry in the home defense arena, the 12-gauge iTAC tactical shotgun with an inertia-driven action and rotating bolt design, synthetic pistol grip stock, ghost ring sight and Picatinny rail. Kassnar said it is chambered for 3-inch magnums, has an 18.5-inch barrel and durable matte finish. The other two CD Defense models are both pump-action shotguns, chambered for 12-gauge, 3-inch magnums. "We're really excited about serving American shooters once again with quality firearms under the Charles Daly and CD, Defense brands," Kassnar said. "Shooters familiar with these firearms lines can rest assured that they are as rugged and reliable as ever." |
