 Adieu
This is a story of God's intention. I was recently on a trip with a friend to a festival in the gorgeous mountains near the Catskills. After a rousing weekend of music we decided to head home early in anticipation of a snarly woman named Irene. We packed up and headed back down a winding gully way with rain coming in torrents. Slowly but surely we made it to the flatlands and were on our way.
As we passed through a small town I happened to notice through sheets of water two men standing under a railroad trestle. They were noticeable through the driving rain because I could not tell if they were seeking shelter or having an argument. The scene registered and we continued on .... until a driver side windshield wiper refused to wipe. Now things were getting interesting and wet. We decided to head back into town with a view only through the passenger side windshield in the hope of finding a car dealer or a mechanic ... at 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon with a hurricane bearing down. What was to be our fate in all of this turmoil?
Some may consider it serendipitous. It can be argued otherwise. We drove by a closed car dealer and multiple auto body and mechanic garages. There had to be something open for us to receive help, wouldn't you think? Just as we approached that rain-drenched bridge on the right we saw two men getting ready to close their mechanic garage. I wasn't sure if they were the same two I saw under the bridge earlier. The connection was made to take notice of the familiarity and ask for help. We pulled in quickly. I pleaded our situation to the owner. Within three minutes he graciously repaired the wiper arm and with a gift of a $20 bill we were back on our way.
This was another chapter in the weekend story that we had to laugh about as we headed home. However, it got me to thinking about the connection with the guys at the bridge and how we were guided to a safe solution. Our experience on the road that day was much like our recent difficult times at Trinity. I can remember the feeling of an impending storm at our church when we did not know if we could make it home. Our finances were dwindling and our future was in doubt.
Then, like in the tropical storm, we were sent a message. God delivered the messenger in the form of Father Bill just like He did with the two men summoning us to the mechanic. The message was to stop, look around, assess your situation and ask for help. What is it that we have that will improve the situation and enable us to overcome our predicament? The answer was that we have each other and that our fellowship will carry us through. Father Bill recognized something that we have always had at Trinity. It is our belief in God and working together that will serve us to grow and do things that were otherwise unforeseen.
Trinity's restored energy and hope is palpable. You can feel it grow every time we are together and the surge is getting stronger. And it shouldn't stop at our doorstep. We should heed the message brought to us and help deliver the gift of fellowship to the world we live in. This is in honor of Father Bill's vision to be more than we are today.
Trinity has been guided to our renewal much like our direction to the mechanic. It wasn't serendipity that drove us to safety. It was God's will to have Father Bill in our lives and to hear the message. I know I can speak for a whole congregation in expressing how much Father Bill has meant to us and how thankful we are to have been blessed with his stay. We are forever grateful for his wisdom, his guidance and his example of pure faith and trust in the Lord. We will miss ye Bill, and will hold a place in our hearts for your love and compassion. Our prayers and our peace go with you and your family. God bless and we shall meet again!
Peace be with you,
Todd
Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
Colossians 3:16

New Arrival
We are all very excited to welcome Father Bob as our Priest in Charge. He and his wife Deborah will be living in the rectory in Wrentham and the Transition Committee is busy making plans to welcome them. They are scheduled to move into the rectory on September 14th and Father Bob's first service will be Sunday, September 18th.
A Welcome Party for Father Bob and Deb is being planned for Sunday, September 25th .... stay tuned for more information. We've had several different ideas put before us with about how best to welcome them to our parish, including some thoughts about the rectory. St. John's Parish is planning to stock the pantry for the Edmunds so that all their basic grocery needs will be waiting for them. We are sure they will appreciate not needing to go do a big grocery shopping once they move in!
This got us thinking about the different ways we could each use our time, talent and treasure to welcome the Edmunds. Perhaps you would like to bake a tray of your best lasagna and leave it in their freezer or buy a scented candle or bouquet of flowers for the kitchen. Please check out Signup Central for ideas and if you find something that is just right for you, put your name down!
Our hope is to not just make our new Priest and wife feel welcome but to have their first few weeks here be as easy and comfortable as possible as they settle in to their new home. If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact Judi Mitchell, June Reinhardt or Jan Levangie.
Cottage Meetings
As much fun as our Welcome Party will be, wouldn't it be nice to have a chance to chat with Father Bob and his wife Deborah in a smaller setting of perhaps 10-15 people? The Transition Committee is coordinating some smaller, adult only gatherings and we need your help! We will have three types of events - morning coffee/muffins at a parishioner's home; luncheon at the church and wine and cheese receptions at a parishioner's home. The first thing we need to know is who would be willing to host the events and then we will coordinate dates and attendees. Please take a look at Signup Central and if you are willing to host (or co-host), put your name down. As soon as the list is full, we'll coordinate the dates!

Sunday School
Sunday, September 11, 2011 is Sunday School Registration Day. We will have a registration table setup in the parish hall during the ice cream social. Invitations to this event have been mailed to each family that was enrolled in Sunday School last year and/or completed our recent survey. Please contact either one of us if your family did not receive an invitation and plan to participate in the Sunday School program.
Thank you again to everyone who participated in the survey. Your feedback has helped us to finalize plans for the 2011-2012 year. All classes will meet at 9:00 AM for approximately 45 minutes. The teachers and children/youth will return to church for communion. We will be using Living The Good News curriculum for Grades 1-8 and the Preschool/Kindergarten class will continue to use Godley Play.
Thank you to everyone who has already committed to volunteer for the Sunday School program. We are still in need of additional classroom teachers for Grade 1, Middle School and High School as well as Youth Group leaders. Please contact either one of us for additional information about these exciting opportunities.
Enjoy the rest of the summer. We look forward to seeing everyone in September!
Sincerely, Rachel and Donna

Notes and Announcements
Trinity Youth Choir registration
Sunday September 11th (Parish Hall after service)
Please join us for another year of singing fun with the Youth Choir! All readers (and younger siblings) through 8th grade may participate in the Youth Choir. No prior singing experience needed! We sing on average once a month during the church service and typically rehearse 2-3 Sunday's per month after Sunday School. Most of all we have lots of fun together. Please see us on the 11th or contact Michelle Gray at: m.michellegray@comcast.net or 774-406-6921 to register.
From the Library
We have some new additions to our library book cart in the Parish Hall. One is, THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN, by Mitch Albom, who also wrote TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE. An older man dies and meets and talks with five people in heaven who had some influence in his life. He now sees new meaning to the life he lived. Was he a hero or a failure? Find out!
We also have MIXED BLESSINGS, the true family story of Father Mulcahy of "M*A*S*H" fame. He and his wife, Barbara, raised two sons, one autistic. This story poignantly presents their challenges, hopes, dreams and love through years of ups and downs.
On a humorous note, we have Loretta LaRoche's LIFE IS SHORT -- WEAR YOUR PARTY PANTS,comical, but also filled with wisdom. And lastly, EVERY HEAD BOWED, a ' happiness' is book (a church dinner with something besides jello salad!). Borrow, read, write a note in Tidings if you'd like.

TIDINGS
In an effort to "be green" and to make our monthly newsletter more publicly available, Tidings is being delivered via e-mail from this issue forward. You will still be able to receive a paper copy, if you prefer that. Although, we hope you will view this as an opportunity to help us save on postage and save a few trees in the process. There is a sign-up sheet in the Parish Hall for those who wish to continue receiving a paper copy. If you, or anyone you know, did not received this e-mail directly, please send a message to office@trinitywrentham.org and ask to be added to the parish mailing list. We hope you will enjoy our new format!
