NSAC's Co-President Retires

NSAC Co-President and Vice President Administration, Dr. Bernie MacDonald retired after 18 years of service to the university on May 4th.

 

Dr. MacDonald began his career at NSAC in 1994 as Vice Principal Administration. In cooperation with other senior administrative officers he has been responsible for the delivery of a broad range of financial, human resources and facilities management at NSAC.  

 

Call for Blue & Gold Nominations
 
If you would like to nominate someone for a Blue & Gold Award, please submit the name, address and phone number of your nominee for one of the awards to: 

NSAC, Development & External Relations Office, Box 550, Truro, N.S. B2N 5E3 no later than May 30.  

 

Nominations can also be submitted to alumni@nsac.ca or via Fax (902-897-9399).

 

Attach a brief biographical sketch of the nominee, clearly outlining the contributions which qualify him/her as a candidate for the award. You may also use the online nomination form.

Several NSAC Alumni Honoured by NSIA

Three outstanding alumni were recently honoured by the NSIA at their annual Honours & Awards banquet in Truro.

 

Kathryn Bremner (Class of '03 & '09) was named as NSIA's Young Agrologist for her dedication to the N.S. Environmental Farm Plan Program as lead coordinator and for her position as Chair of the Articling Agrologists program and NMP committee with NSIA.  

  

 

An outstanding agriculture extension worker, Lori Kittilsen (Class of '90), was presented NSIA's CA Douglas award for her drive for continued education for self-improvement and to further the development of agriculture in N.S. Lori is currently pursuing a Certificate in Adult Education from St.FX University  

 

Described by his peers as a professional man of integrity and leadership, Bob Adams (Class of '66), received NSIA's Distinguished Life Member award. Bob's career as a professional agrologist, was full of success working in agricultural finance, extension, management and administration.
  
NSAC Faculty and Staff Honoured for Teaching and Research Excellence

Two of NSAC's finest were honoured in April for teaching and research excellence as part of the university's annual  awards program.  

"Our students and research partners benefit so much from the great work done by our teaching and research staff", said Dr. Leslie MacLaren, NSAC Co-president & Vice President Academic, "It's a privilege and pleasure to work with such talented individuals as Sarah and Raj. We are proud of their accomplishments."
 
Sarah Gatti-Yorke, Department of Plant and Animal Sciences, earned the NSAC Technician Award for Achievement in Teaching. Dr. Balakrishnan Prithiviraj was selected by his peers to be this year's recipient of the NSAC Research Award. More...

The AGM of the Alumni Association will take place Friday, June 8 at 12 noon. The meeting will be held in the CA Douglas Boardroom, Cumming Hall, NSAC.
