Westlake's Volunteer Efforts help Build a Stronger Community

NSAC-Dal Merger Communications Update

 

Agreement in Principle for Dalhousie University-NSAC Merger

 

The province is finalizing a partnership that will position Nova Scotia Agricultural College as an enhanced centre of excellence for applied research and a national leader in agriculture education. 


The province and Dalhousie University announced an agreement in principle, March 23, to merge NSAC with Dalhousie in Truro-Bible Hill.

"This is a permanent solution that will strengthen NSAC, benefit students and improve the economy of Bible Hill and Truro," said John MacDonell, Minister of Agriculture. 
 

"Government understands the value of agriculture and related industries that help create jobs and maintain strong rural communities. A merger with Dalhousie will help NSAC fulfill its mission as a national and international leader in agriculture research, education and innovation." More...

Steve Myette (Class of '81)

Steve Myette's recent encounter with a Canadian goose, outside his office in Ontario, has made him quite famous. The video, filmed by entertained co-workers, has appeared on international television, including Good Morning America.

Agricultural Literacy Week

 

Colette Wyllie (Class of '10) and Students' Union President, Paul Manning took part in Agricultural Literacy Week in early March.

 


The pair spent some time in Mrs. Gullen's grade two/three class at Bible Hill Central Elementary reading agricultural themed books to the students.

2012 CCAA Men's Basketball National Championships

 

NSAC was host, in March, to the 2012 Men's Basketball Nationals. Eight teams competed for the title, with Ontario's Mohawk College coming out on top in an exciting final against Mount Royal University of Calgary, AB.  The medal games (bronze and gold) are available "On Demand" if you are an Eastlink customer.

The 13th national event hosted by NSAC brought eight top teams to Bible Hill and the competition showcased the excellent caliber of basketball played in the CCAA. The competition was webcast and will be available soon (sportscanada.tv updated their server and should be back online in the next couple of days) as "archived files" on http://ccaamensbasketball2012.ca/   - click on the watch live button.

 

 

2013 CCAA Women's Basketball National Championships

Next year's women's championships are being hosted at NSAC.  March Madness will again bring eight great teams to NSAC to compete for the title. 

 

 

2012 Eastlink Agri-Golf Classic

Just a reminder that the registration form for this years event will be online by April 15. The Classic is being hosted at Royal Oaks, Moncton, NB.
