NSAC-Dal Merger Communications Update

NSAC and Dalhousie University recognize the importance of the athletic program at NSAC. Representatives from both schools have been working together to ensure NSAC varsity and club teams continue to be eligible to participate in the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA).

NSAC Associate Vice-President for Students Keltie Jones, NSAC Athletic Director Judy Smith, Susan Spence Wach, associate vice-president, academic programs at Dalhousie and Mark Braithwaite, Dalhousie Assistant Vice-President Student Affairs  met with the president and executive director of the ACAA this past fall.

The ACAA has indicated, subject to final approval at their AGM, students at the NSAC campus will continue to be eligible to participate in the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association post merger. Athletics is an important area of student life and one both institutions are pleased to see continue.

Founder's Day 2012

Let's celebrate our family tree as we get back to our roots on Founder's Day 2012!

On Thursday, February 14th, NSAC will celebrate 107 years of growth since our humble beginnings in 1905. And we have plenty for which to be proud.

Please join us for breakfast from 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. in the NSAC MacRae Library and share with us your favorite memories of NSAC. Have your picture taken in our photo booth for inclusion in an NSAC Memory book. Tell us the best part about working at a small university. We will also have a display of vintage artifacts and clothing.

We have written our own history and we'll continue to write it. Come and help us celebrate all that is special about NSAC.

Please RSVP to Amy Totten by Feb. 9:

NSAC to Host National Championship

NSAC Athletics will be hosting their 13th CCAA National Championship in March.

The eighth basketball event will feature the top eight men's college teams representing the five member conferences of the CCAA. In addition to the winning teams from each member conference, there will be two wildcards (Alberta and Ontario have been awarded the wildcards based on their conference performances in the last three national championships) and a host representative. The decision on who will fill the host spot will be made in late February.

NSAC as the actual host, has the first right of refusal for the host position and the decision will be based on the competitive level of the team in comparison to others in the ACAA. Watch NSAC's Athletics website for information on the decision: nsac.ca/athletics

The basketball will be top-notch and we hope to see lots of alumni and community spirit supporting the host team and the national event.
