Merger Principles and Objectives

As a valued NSAC stakeholder we wanted to provide you with an update on NSAC-Dalhousie Merger discussions. The principles and objectives for NSAC-Dalhousie Merger discussions have been approved.

We'd like to thank you for providing input into the development of these principles through discussion, surveys and emails. We look forward to your continued feedback as we continue this process.

The principles and objectives were developed by government, NSAC and Dalhousie along with input from many valued stakeholders. This information offers insight into the approach for negotiations.  These principles embrace the things which have made NSAC what it is today and also help position NSAC and Dalhousie for continued success in the future. They will be used to help guide discussions and decisions related to the merger of NSAC and Dalhousie.

Research
NSAC to Establish an Atlantic Wool Inventory

NSAC's Rural Research Centre in partnership with Farm Energy Nova Scotia has launched a research project investigating the feasibility of developing markets for sheep's wool in Atlantic Canada.

Working with the Canadian Cooperative Wool Growers, the Sheep Producers Association of Nova Scotia and AgraPoint, researchers will be establishing an Atlantic wool inventory in an effort to gauge how much wool is currently being produced and for what purpose.

sheepOnce one of the biggest industries in Atlantic Canada, sheep's wool now has few market opportunities in the region. In fact, an estimated 50 per cent or more of the wool produced in Atlantic Canada is discarded because of low prices.

Atlantic sheep producers are asked to contact NSAC's Rural Research Centre to answer a few confidential questions on their wool production.

Information can be directed to Chloe Kennedy at ckennedy@nsac.ca, by fax 902-893-6230, phone 902-893-6227 or mail to Chloe Kennedy at Rural Research Centre, 56-58 Rock Garden Road, NSAC, P.O. Box 550, Truro, NS B2N 5E3.

All questions or comments regarding the project can be directed to Chloe Kennedy, research project co-ordinator, at ckennedy@nsac.ca or the project's co-directors Dr. Kenny Corscadden, at 902-893-6715 or Dr. Deborah Stiles at 902-893-6705.
