Captain Richard Steele Endowment Scholarship     


Cpt SteeleAuthor and NSAC alumna, Jodi DeLong (Class of '80), held a rare garden tour of her Scots Bay property, on Canada Day weekend. The tour was in support of the Captain Richard Steele Endowment Scholarship at NSAC. Over $3,000 was raised.

Home is Where the Healthy Meal is

New study finds home setting nurtures better food choices

 

dinnerCan a cozy dining table and nice music prompt people to reach for the greens and go light on dessert?  

 

So suggests a new study probing why people tend to eat more-nutritious meals at home than away from home. The findings, based on data from 160 women who reported their emotional states before and after meals, add to mounting evidence that psychological factors may help override humans' wired-in preference for high-fat, sugary foods. NSAC: An Artist's Perspective

Once again, members of the Truro Art Society spent the day of Open House setting to canvas their perspectives of NSAC in bloom. Features such as the Butterfly Meadow, Rock Garden, Alumni Gardens, livestock and research facilities were highlighted and will be the subject of a month-long exhibit at the Marigold Cultural Centre. Please join us on Thursday, August 11th at 7p.m. for an opening reception in the Art Gallery. Artwork will also be available for purchase. 

  

NSAC Welcomed New Student with Alumni Connections at High School Graduation

mitchellMitchell Brown from Middleton Regional High School received congratulations on his NSAC Entrance Scholarship from Brian Crouse, manager of Student Recruitment & Awards at NSAC.
Mitchell is the son of Donna Noble-Brown, an NSAC grad of '83 & '88. Many staff and faculty will remember Donna as a student who played varsity basketball at NSAC for four years and then as an employee RAC and assistant coach to the women's basketball team.
Mitchell was the recipient of a $500 Leadership Award and the $1,000 M W Harvey Music Award at the graduation ceremony.

Eastlink Agri-Golf Classic

 

garth The 15th annual Agri-Golf Classic was successfully hosted by the committee and NSAC Athletics at Fox Meadow Golf and Country Club in Stratford, P.E.I. on Friday, July 22. For the first time, the event exceeded the 30 team target and attracted 32 teams, of five members each.

Participants included NSAC alumni, deputy minister's teams from N.S. and P.E.I., as well as golfers involved in agriculture and former/current NSAC staff.
