SAME-GENDER ISSUES AMONG LUTHERANS IN CANADA
A Statement from the Council of Presidents of Lutheran Church-Canada
Recent years have brought separation and discord among Lutheran Christians around the world as various church bodies have departed from historic Biblical teaching and practice by approving same gender relationships, both within their churches' membership and even in the ranks of the ordained clergy. This disruption will now spread in our country through the decision of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC) to authorize its pastors to conduct same-gender marriages, as well as by its finding that sexual orientation is no longer an issue in certifying candidates for the ministry.

Mission Prayer ( July 31 )
http://www.lutheranchurch.ca/missions.php
Lord Jesus, in what is for many a time of rest and relaxation may we be a people who are ever vigilant over the threats levelled against us by the evil one. On this day, in 1928 when Leo the Lion gave his first roar in MGM's first motion picture with sound, we consider a more ferocious roar given by "the devil who goes about like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." May we rest our bodies and our minds but never our souls. In the name of Jesus, preserve us we pray. Amen. |

Historical - 1 Year Reading Plan
Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to read the Old Testament in ancient Israel? Or, the New Testament as the books were written? In this plan, the order of the Old Testament readings is very similar to Israel's Hebrew Bible, progressing from Law to Prophets to Writings. The New Testament ordering is based upon research regarding the order in which the books were authored. Although this research is not conclusive, it may offer helpful insights to your Bible reading.

A Request from the Parish and School Services Department
Parish and Schools services are still seeking your questions and comments which will enable the Department and staff to compile a survey ( read full post ) in determining the needs of our workers and their families and which will be utilized in determining "appropriately beneficial" opportunities to the spouses of church workers.
Questions and comments can be forwarded to Daryl Becker . You may also phone him at 780-474-0063 (ext. 110), leaving a message if he is not in the office.
In order to get the survey out to the congregations, workers, and workers' families in time to share results at this fall's Workers Conferences, please have questions and comments to Daryl by the end of June. |

Go to "Go!" (http://goandmake.ca) to read about Martin Luther's missiology. Other recent posts include some reflections on outreach by Don Hindle (DPS worker at Trinity, Richmond) and one of the members of Trinity, Ewald. Dr. Schaeffer has also posted a portion of one of his sermons entitled, "Let Me Out! I am a Prisoner in a Stain-Glass Jail!" "Go!" is dedicated to discussing the missio Dei - the Mission of God! You are encouraged to leave your own thoughts and reflections!
