Prayers

We pray for the family of Rev. Dr. Albin Stanfel who on July 7, 2011 was called home to glory. May his family find peace, strength, and comfort in the knowledge that he is now resting in the arms of Jesus.

For all of the teachers in our Lutheran Schools, that they would enjoy a time of refreshment and re-energizing during the summer months.

For safe travel for all of our Church workers and church members who will be "on the road" during their vacation time.

Mission Prayer

Heavenly Father, you have created time and have ordered the seasons. May we give thanks for this season of summer which provides so many new opportunities for outreach. Families are in our parks and their yards. Things move a little slower and perhaps a bit more relaxed. Help us trust in You as You provide words to say that lead to the most wonderful words of life from Your Holy Word. In the name of your Son Jesus, the precious Word we pray. Amen.

recious Word we pray. Amen.

Old Testament and New Testament » 1 Year Reading Plan

It is important to understand the fullness of God's message to the churches, and a great way of doing this is reading the Old and New Testaments simultaneously. This plan, which can be completed in one calendar year, does just that. Readings from both Testaments are included from the beginning and although each reading does not contain both Testaments, the two are read effectively.

Also available are bulletin and newsletter announcements for your congregation at http://cef.lccabc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/CEF-Bulletin-and-Newsletter-Announcements-Summer-2011.pdf.  For those congregations that have CEF Representatives and K.I.D.S. Coordinators, please personalize the announcements and include their name and contact information.

If your congregation does not have a rep or a coordinator, please help us find the appropriate individual(s) to fill the role in your church.  Congregational representatives help promote CEF and thus make loan funds available to congregations, Lutheran Schools and other ministry entities throughout the Alberta-British Columbia District.

A Request from the Parish and School Services Department

Parish and Schools services are still seeking your questions and comments which will enable the Department and staff to compile a survey ( read full post ) in determining the needs of our workers and their families and which will be utilized in determining "appropriately beneficial" opportunities to the spouses of church workers.

Questions and comments can be forwarded to Daryl Becker . You may also phone him at 780-474-0063 (ext. 110), leaving a message if he is not in the office.

In order to get the survey out to the congregations, workers, and workers' families in time to share results at this fall's Workers Conferences, please have questions and comments to Daryl by the end of June.

Go to "Go!" (http://goandmake.ca) to read about Martin Luther's missiology.  Other recent posts include some reflections on outreach by Don Hindle (DPS worker at Trinity, Richmond) and one of the members of Trinity, Ewald.  Dr. Schaeffer has also posted a portion of one of his sermons entitled, "Let Me Out! I am a Prisoner in a Stain-Glass Jail!"   "Go!" is dedicated to discussing the missio Dei - the Mission of God!  You are encouraged to leave your own thoughts and reflections!
