O God, on this day you once taught the hearts of your faithful people by sending them the light of your Holy Spirit. Grant us in our day by the same Spirit to have a right understanding in all things and evermore to rejoice in His holy consolation; through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in communion with the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

A Request from the Parish and School Services Department
Good surveys are good because they ask the right questions of the right people in the right way. Please help the Parish & School Services Department of our District put together such a survey in response to District Resolution:
2009-02-02 TO DEVELOP MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO CARE FOR CHURCH WORKERS AND THEIR FAMILIES
and in particular the resolved which reads: that the ABC District, through its staff and departments, consult with church workers, spouses and congregations on developing opportunities which will be appropriately beneficial to spouses of church workers;
To that end, please communicate questions and comments which will enable the Department and staff to compile a survey in determining the needs of our workers and their families and which will be utilized in determining "appropriately beneficial" opportunities to the spouses of church workers.
Questions and comments can be forwarded to Daryl Becker at the District office: dbecker@lccabc.ca. You may also phone him at 780-474-0063 (ext. 110), leaving a message if he is not in the office.
In order to get the survey out to the congregations, workers, and workers' families in time to share results at this fall's Workers Conferences, please have questions and comments to Daryl by the end of June.

Resource of the Week The Bible and Homosexual Practice: Texts and Hermeneutics [Paperback]by: Robert A. J. Gagnon (Author)
Gagnon offers the most thorough analysis to date of the biblical texts relating to homosexuality. He demonstrates why attempts to classify the Bible's rejection of same-sex intercourse as irrelevant for our contemporary context fail to do justice to the biblical texts and to current scientific data. Gagnon's book powerfully challenges attempts to identify love and inclusivity with affirmation of homosexual practice. . . the most sophisticated and convincing examination of the biblical data for our time. -Jürgen Becker, Professor of New Testament, Christian-Albrechts University. Preview the book and get more details. |
