Host a T4M Talk

A number of congregations have invited Dr. Glenn Schaeffer to speak with them about being an outreach focused congregation that connects with people who are not yet believers in Jesus Christ.  Pastors, DPS workers, and congregational leaders are beginning to grasp the reality that God desires to transform members into missionaries who share the Gospel "incarnationally" with their community beginning in the neighbourhood around the church building. T4M consultation weekends and the subsequent prescriptions are designed to help pastors, church workers, and laity to make this transformation.  To learn more about a T4M consultation, please contact Dr. Glenn Schaeffer and/or download the information sheet, "Consultation weekends explained" here

LCMS Stewardship Conference

It's been  a month now since I left the snowless, cactus ridden land of Arizona to return to the land of ice and frost, here in Edmonton.  Not only do I miss the weather; but I also miss the opportunity that I had to focus on stewardship while I was attending the LCMS's  District Stewardship Leaders Conference.

This conference is a voluntary get together of the other districts in the LCMS to discuss stewardship strategies and practices. The conference is organized solely by the districts themselves. It has been held annually since 1991.  The theme for 2011 was "Best Practices" with Dr. Mark L. Vincent (of Design Group International) as the main speaker, Rev. Wayne Knolhoff (Director of Stewardship - LCMS) was also among the attendees to highlight Faith Aflame - a congregational process designed to change the stewardship culture.  It was interesting to hear that the same stewardship struggles we have in LCC they also have in LCMS.  The one point that kept resounding like a gong was that the view of stewardship needs to change, it's not just about money but it's a holistic approach to life, one where God has ownership overall and we are merely the caretakers of His assets.

Not only was it educational and informative but I also came back with some new resources.  To find out more about these and other current resources you can either go online or contact Jon Teschke by email or phone (780-474-0063 ext 111).
