Lifelong Learning about Your Faith
Concordia Lutheran Seminary offers learning opportunities to the wider community of believers that we belong to.
Quest is a continuing education program presented by CLS. Each series offers lifelong learning classes especially for lay people. Seminary faculty and guest speakers present a short series of classes on subjects relevant to the day-to-day faith living of contemporary Christians. Beginning on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, the winter session of Quest will be led by Rev. Lorne Manweiler (Zion, Wetaskiwin, AB) and cover the topic of 'What Does It Mean to be Lutheran?' To register, or find out more, please contact the Seminary or visit here.
A new addition to the continuing education that CLS provides is the Spirituality Lecture series, which begins at the end of January. Lectures will be webcast for those who want to tune in from afar! Beginning on Thursday, January 27 with the topic of 'Spirituality and Human Strife' with Dr. Colleen Hammermaster. For more information, please contact the Seminary. |

Resource of the Week

A Year in the New Testament will guide you through reading most of the New Testament in the course of a year, and do it in a way that is encouraging and manageable, taking the readers experiences of daily life into the Bible. The daily devotions follow the seasonal movements of the Church Year in a broad, general fashion, but not in the more focused and specific way that one expects for the lessons and Holy Gospel appointed for particular Sundays and festivals of the Church Year, allowing Scripture to interpret itself in its own literary contexts, and thereby also to inform and shape Christian prayer and devotion over the course of time. Each day contains a Psalmody, Additional Psalm, an Old Testament Reading, a New Testament Reading, Prayer of the Day, and a Meditation. There is not greater source of comfort, hope, help, and counsel than the Word of God itself. Nothing serves the Christian faith more than diligently and daily reading and searching the Holy Scriptures. |

Pastor Humour
Did you hear about the Buddhist who refused Novocain during a root canal? He wanted to transcend dental medication. |
